I know the marlins have traditionally struggled. No reason to sit in a baseball stadium on a 90 degree sunny day with a (free) beach 5 miles away.

but in this case, the fight was marketed as a benefit for the haitian earthquake victims. with a haitian welterweight champion. i definitely expected better than 900. ya know? in a city with such a massive immigrant population.
I don't live there either just speaking on what see from afar. Boxing is not prestigous and for people in Miami with real money they would rather be at so called prestigous events looking pretty!!! I get what you mean that fight should have still done better than 900

Good thread. Btw could you add tv ratings for the fights. This thread would be good for reference for the economics of the sport.

you are right again. You're a good poster.

Most years, I would go to Art Basel in Miami. And I see a lot of celebs go to the Winter Music Conference, MTV awards, Latin Grammys, etc.

Always some type of posh event there.

Imagine how you feel if you are one of the 700 who bought tickets to see Crazy Vic, and then you find out the other 11,000 got their tickets for free.

Ohhhhh....what a difference two years can make.

              Pacquiao-Marquez Sets PPV Record
              Friday March 28, 2008

HBO reports that the March 15 rematch between Manny Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez generated 400,000 buys totalling $20.2 million in sales. Both marks establish new records for any pay-per-view event with the main event at a weight below welterweight. Last year's Floyd Mayweather-Oscar De La Hoya welterweight bout holds both PPV records at 2.4 million PPV buys and over $134 million in revenue.
The Pacquiao-Marquez fight also generated $3.3 million in ticket sales at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas. It may take a while, but a rematch is too lucrative not to happen.

PACQUIAO SOLD MORE WITH MARQUEZ THAN HE DID WITH MORALES OR BARRERA.... or than the classic Erik/MAB fights did.

So do you know what Malinaggi - Khan did? A simple no would do if you don't.

Where are you getting your source from?

                  Khan and Paulie attendance?

In the UK, you get cheaper seats from maybe 1k, 500, but majority are 250 to 50 UK pounds.

                  That's about 1.50 dollars to a pound.

We all gotta pay most of the time :s

Anybody can access those by request. In Texas, they treat fighter income as private information. Almost as if the fighter was an employee, and you don't reveal their salary.
                    I didn't know that. Interesting...
