Attendance Figures For Some Recent Fights....

I'd like to provide some information that you may find interesting, surprising...or just boring. If you have no interest, please feel free to ignore. But I thought this was important to understand with regards to all the discussions I see on the board now about fight economics, purses and crowd size and ppv buys.

If you would like more fights, please ask...

At the MGM, for Mayweather-Mosley, the most expensive seat was priced at $1,250. They sold 4,881 of those seats, generating $6.1 million — or just a c*nt-hair shy of the entire Cowboys Stadium gate for Pac-Clottey. Another 2,450 tickets sold at $1,000, bringing in an additional $2.45 million.

The highest price at Cowboys Stadium was $700. They sold 2,852 of those seats, bringing in just shy of $2 million. More than 20,000 of the 36,371 tickets sold in Dallas went for $100 or less. Almost 70 percent of the tickets at the MGM Grand sold for $600 or more.

    ALSO...

    Mayweather-Mosley
    14,038 paid
    886 comps
    14,924 total
    $11.1 million revenue.
    PLUS:
Closed circuit sales in Vegas = $336K

Mosley guarantee = $6.75 million plus PPV
Mayweather guarantee = $22.5 million plus PPV

Note: Mayweather was guaranteed $10 million for the Marquez fight.

    Pacquiao-Clottey

    36,271 paid
    5,472 comps
    41,843 total
    $6.4 million revenue

    Pacquiao-Margarito:
    30,437 paid
    9,717 comps
    40,154 total
    $5.4 million revenue

“It’s nice to have 50,000 or 60,000 people in a stadium, but at the end of the day the fighter is going to want to get paid.” - Richard Schaefer

“This fight cost us a fortune. So, economically, it doesn’t make all the sense in the world. But look at what it’s doing for the sport. It’s bringing us back to the mainstream.” - Bob Arum, discussing the Cotto-Foreman Yankee Stadium bout

    Manny Pacquiao's guaranteed purses:

    Delahoya fight: $6.6 million
    Hatton fight: $7.4 million
    Cotto fight: $7.5 million

I have Pac's viewership figures in the Philippines. As well as some Euro fights.

I'm trying to get the Pacquio purses for Texas. But Texas operates differently than Nevada. In Nevada, they treat fighters' purses and contracts as public information. Anybody can access those by request. In Texas, they treat fighter income as private information. Almost as if the fighter was an employee, and you don't reveal their salary.

So, when someone sees Vic Darchinyan fight on SHO, and the house is packed , don't assume that the Armenian Lobster is a big draw. The promoters merely went into Pasadena and gave away every seat.

All this does is make me worry about the sport. It clearly isn't in great shape at the moment.
