it's no excuse.. Pac doesnt want to fight at 154 anymore and Martinez doesnt want to go down in weight anymore.. The only way they fight is to meet in the middle ( a catchweight ), but then you'd say Pac just weight-drained another fighter...
It'd be a great fight though..

0 defense? come on... lets have common sense here... i dont give those 2 a sure lock to.. but i do favor them to win... thats how good those 2 are...

anyway... pac max is 147... martinez can go as low as 154... so close yet so far... i want this fight but not below 154... but i dont think pac camp would go to 154 , pac cant even get to 150 for god sake...

What you seem to comprehend is that's what Pacquiao and team does. They look for fighters that have been exposed recently and just exploit their weaknesses to death, slap on a catchweight stipulation to get them as skeletons by fight night.
The business of boxing has always been like that. Sugar Ray Leonard waited out Marvin Hagler until he slowed down just enough, then SRL challenged him. It still doesn't take away from SRL's greatness. It's not uncommon for this to happen. How many guys has Mayweather done that with? I mean he fought Judah right after Judah lost to Baldomir, so that ain't saying much.

Yeah, they did that with Marquez, right? And Barrera too, huh? How about Morales? Oh yeah, and Clottey too?

          Yeah, sure.

I was just about to say that. That's the best example you could've mentioned.

Of course you a guy credit for fighting an unknown commodity in Sergio. What did Paul Williams have to gain by fighting Martinez, and to a certain extent even Cintron?

Martinez with his style, is the kind of style coaches advise you to stay far away from. At least Paul took his chances and granted he lost, but it took balls to get in that ring a second time.

Well, was he forced or not forced? He also fought Quintana when no one wanted to fight him.

Was he forced to fight Margarito when everyone was avoiding him?

Paul Williams fought anyone they put in front of him.

And by the way, you can't force anyone to fight. Paul Williams wanted to fight Sergio to erase any controversy from the first fight.

please dude ,,those second and third fight with morales he couldn't make weight anymore, and pacquiao knew that, clottey? he had just lost to cotto, the point is this guy fights guys who had just lost or looked bad,and since "beating" marquez thats all he's fougth and since then he's considered the best, based on those victories after marquez, which is wrong

Exactly and win or lose, you respect a guy that has the balls to take a shot. Mayweather would never...ever...ever dream of fighting Martinez, even though he fought Oscar at 154. I'll take it one step further. I still doubt he'd fight Paul Williams even after what happened tonight.

Perhaps this outcome was the exact reason why Williams' handlers -- manager Al Haymon and promoter Dan Goossen -- had done everything they could to avoid the rematch until being essentially forced into it by HBO, which would not buy another fight involving Williams.

They dragged out the negotiations for months and left Martinez, promoter Lou DiBella and adviser Sampson Lewkowicz with the short end of the stick. They accepted the deal -- including being forced to fight at contract weight of 158 pounds instead of the division limit of 160 -- but they were not happy.

that looks more like he was pressured i guess is more of the correct word...yeah,he would fight anybody but after that first fight with martinez he really didn't want the rematch
