I've had this convo before with him. Yes, they sent out a feeler for Clottey after Pavlik pulled out again but Martinez was told much earlier to be prepared. And that came from Lou DiBella, Martinez' promoter.

well hopefully the fight doesnt suffer from sergio martinez having to sweat off the last few pounds off in the gym and i think if he is at full strength i expect another close fight similar to the first one and i still think that maybe sergio martinez can out box paul the punisher williams and i wouldn't be shocked to see either guy get off the canvas again.

            I was 50-50 the 1st time, I'm 50-50 again. Can't really make a pick here.

While Martinez is the more skilled fighter, I think Williams actually showed a better ability to adapt the first time around. In the second half of the fight there were times when he was able to anticipate SM's punches and land some good shots because of it.

Sergio has good headmovement and that works great as a defence most of the time, but because of PWill's reach, he was able to land often despite SM's movement. I kept expecting Martinez to adapt to this by keeping a higher guard or parrying more punches, but that didn't really happen.

Stamina will probably be a key aspect as it was last time. Martinez took a round off against both PW and Pavlik, Williams and his corner will be anticipating that this time and may end up throwing even more punches (if that's possible lol). I also wonder if we'll see more body punches from Williams as part of an attempt to wear down Martinez or at least slow down his footwork.
I thought I was the only one who noticed.

That and Martinez, at 35 years old, is going to have to summon that kind of 12 round non stop conditioning again for a second time.

Where as for Williams... that's an ordinary day.

People like to act like Williams wasn't teeing off on Martinez himself.

                He was.

the only significant adjustment that i saw in the first fight came from Sergio

he was getting hit with the 3rd of 4th punch Williams' combos because of how he engaged

he then switched it up in the middle of the fight by leading with the left instead of of his jab and coming over with an overhand right....Williams ate that overhand right over and over again and wasnt able to adjust until the later rounds

Yeah we did have this conversation and you denied the Clottey offer ever existed.

It was an offer, not a feeler. A lowball offer but still.

How about the lapses where Martinez looked like a Zombie and would eat 4,5,6,7,8 consecutve jabs to the face, because he was too tired to move his head after round 8....

I see it being harder for Martinez to summon that same performance than Williams... he's a year older now too.
