My point is that Sexy needs to improve stamina slightly. Paul needs to become a better boxer.
Martinez is a savvy veteran. A little unfair to him to him to assume he was half-assing in the gym just because he was preparing for a tuneup. Sergio does need to improve his stamina - it was a problem against Pavlik too but Pavlik has other issues. Anyway, we'll see and I hope it's great. But the idea that Martinez didn't have enough time to prepare works both ways, for better or worse.

Fan of both guys, rooting for Martinez because I want to see a trilogy but actually picking Williams to win by a close UD. I just think the volume will be the difference again. Sergio will look better at times throughout the fight and will land the cleaner punches but Williams will just get a lot of work done, and I don't think Martinez has what it takes to match Williams' pace. Should be a good fight.

I see it being harder for Martinez to summon that same performance than Williams... he's a year older now too.

considering that was his fight time carrying that weight, i dont think he did too bad...he didn't look as gassed after taking punches from a stronger, heavier man when he lifted the crown off pavlik

either way, should be another great fight

Well, it wasn't his first time at that weight and he was preparing for a fight at 157lbs. Couldn't have been that much of an issue. But we'll see. I honestly have no clue as to what's gonna happen.

He took the middle rounds off and did nothing letting Pavlik back in the fight by round 9...

And having Pavlik plod around the ring pumping a jab is totally different than Williams literally bouncing around chasing you down with his 84" reach.. he has punches in your face at all times.. hardly what Pavlik did.

              And ****.

martinez only problem really is conditioning. i don't know if he can improve on that but if he can then his chances are better. i'm actually expecting him to be better conditioned this time. on the other hand, williams relentless style can cause anybody to tire out easily.

Not half arsing but its natural that your intensity could drop when you're faced with a uninspiring fight. I think we saw in the Pavlik fight that he improved by turning into a killer after the 9th. Although Pavlik doesnt make you work as hard as Williams, granted.

It might be natural to half arse but that's what separates the good from the great. And I don't think being fatigued in the middle rounds and catching your second wind in the ninth isn't "improving." But ok.

I dont think he was really fatigued, Pavlik actually did quite well in those rounds. He kinda sussed his rhythm and started timing him with the jab. But when Sexy turned up the heat, it was a wrap.
