Promoters are doing both. I dont see what's wrong with that.. its promoting.. The promoter is just doing the best they can to hype up the fight, and frankly to get as much PPV buys they could.

The belts were BS for both Marg and Cotto fight. But at the end of the day, its the competitive nature of the fight that sells.

The belt for Cotto was not BS, this belt is BS, and they need it cuz it is a BS fight.

And, we're all assuming that Marg will be competitive. But, ignoring the facts that there are question marks with Marg. We don't really know how much Marg has left. And, that is why the belts are on the line cuz it would be a BS type of fight. So they trying to find an angle to sell the fight as Pac making history 8 titles in 8 weight-class.

You mean you dont see the size disparity (length, height, weight), the Marg's motivation as factors for this fight. If you want to speculate then you have to do on both angles and not on just one side..

I think Berto is a farce, but with that said I think he would've beaten Garcia a lot more impressively than Margarito did. I may have to go with Berto. Still can't get Margarito's come back fight out of my head of where his punches had no steam on them at all outside of that knockdown and he looked like a shell of his old self.

Punisher hasn't fought at 147 since June of 2008. Give me a break, if he wants to be considered a welterweight, he'll have to fight someone there. Back in 2008, Manny Pacquiao was fighting at Super featherweight. Does Manny have any right to claim everyone at Super featherweight is currently dodging him? Of course not, that is ridiculous. Berto is more legit? Margarito is more likely to hand Pacquiao a loss than Berto, and that alone makes him more legit. It's not Pacquiao's fault that Berto hasn't built his profile, he's had plenty of time and resources. I don't blame Berto though, HBO has essentially signed off on multiple blank checks for him. It's only right to cash them.

The people might want that bro, and again I agree. I do believe Marg is tougher than Berto.

But, that is not the angle they trying to sell the fight. They going with that, Pac going up in weight-class again, for an unprecedented 8 title in 8 weight-class. Or the other Pac is not focus, not training hard, while Marg looking like a mad man angle.

Instead of having the title on the line, cuz on the real that is making this fight a farce, it is like cheating history, a vacant title at another catch-weight. But, if they would of just dropped the belt, and say Pac is offensive machine, Marg is an offensive machine, FOTY candidate. Then I think it would be perceived as a more legit fight.
