Floyd has been active for 7 years of that decade while Manny put in 10 years worth of work but still he has been ranked below Mayweather his entire career up until Floyd retired.

meaning no one actually thought he was at his level until after being schooled by Marquez and moving on to bigger opponents such as Diaz and Hatton and DLH, cotto, Margarito at catchweights

ok ur analysis is flawed because ur saying that the two fighters u mentioned fought in a better era. sure it might have been better, but it wasnt better by that much. furthermore, u claim they were the men in their era, sure they might have been at the top, but they were far from dominant, this applies to kobayashi especially. trust me, i love japanese boxing a lot, kobayashi is cool but i dont think ive ever heard anyone rank him higher at 130 than floyd or arguello. take it for what u will, but 130 has never been a deep division and the most dominant fighters ever in that divison's history are floyd, arguello and nelson.

That speaks to how much Manny has accomplished, and how little Floyd has done in the past couple years.

I wonder if the two are correlated? IE., Floyd magically taking lots of vacations during Pacs rise.

        Lol.

although i dont think floyd ducked half the fighters he gets accused of, at the end of the day his resume still lacks names. judah and baldomir where the two best WWs when he fought them so u cant say he ducked anyone when he took those fights, yet u cant say the wins mean a whole lot either. but like u say he fought fighters with all styles and more often than not in their prime.

pacquiao has alot of names on his resume, but the fighters on several occassions already had the fight beat out of them by the time pac took them on. and they all have similar styles pacquiao having ducked stylistic challenges while floyds greatest asset is his ability to read and adapt to oponents, he hasnt done it a whole lot against the very best though.

to me floyd ranks higher, a great fighter needs to be able to adapt to any style something pacquiao is yet to prove that he can.
          Thank you!

Most boxing historians rank Floyd #2 behind Arguello. And a few would have Saddler ahead of him as well, although he is very difficult to rank accurately at that weight.

Diaz was at 135, Hatton was at 140, DLH was at 147...those look like weight class limits to me

or it speaks about how much Manny was over rated at 135 and above since that run he made post Marquez II is what made him the star he is today.

now we can argue if the Diaz Hatton DLH and Cotto that Manny fought and if they were shot or not but that does not change the fact that NOBODY thought Manny was at Mayweathers level prior to 2008
