Discussion: The effect of loosing a few extra lbs.

People have to understand that most boxers are 100% lean and that 2 or 3 lbs make a huge difference when you are talking muscle mass.
Just all the work for those extra lbs can push you to been overtrained.
For regular people a few lbs is a meal, for a boxer is weeks of more training and that's What Roach refers to "taking something out of them".
It makes a huge difference and it changes a boxers training rutine.
So please, don't under play a few lbs. It has made Pacquiao who He is today.

If you haven't worked training any one you might not know this facts.

the biggest misconception is that losing a few lbs for a fighter is the same as us losing a few lbs so most think it could be done with ease when that is so far from the truth it's comical

Mora lost 4lbs in an hour. Thought maybe you'd forgotten.

Completely depends on the fighter. Every fighter has an ideal weight and most of them arent likely to be right on the dot within the weight divisions. Also the higher up in weight you go the easier it is to lose a couple lbs.

Mora is probably a bad example since He didn't show much power. Boxers usually dehydrated for weight in. Once they have reached a good amount of fights, they have their rutine down and push for every little oz.
You can have some exceptions, but those are with boxers who change rutine from fight to fight.
Most of the succesful boxers repeat the rutine once they have found the right formula.

Well, I knew I would find a few real fans that would enjoy touching the subject, but yes. I was also expecting the knowledge challenged to participate as best as they could.

Boxers are pushed to fight as low as they can for their advantage, it back fires if their challenger pushes them to loose a few extra pounds, since they were pushing a few already.

I think he means the few pounds that Pacquiao gained to move to new weight classes is so impressive.
