I'd rather have to switch gameplans last minute than only get half of the amount of necessary time to train.
Having to switch your game plan from trying to be a boxer to having to be the chaser is just as difficult.

If my memory serves me right, he got the "real" knock down versus PWill. PWill is good, but that most feared boxer in boxing has been wearing off really fast.

Please don't act as if PWill wasn't tired, the guy usually throws solid punches, he was slapping Martinez in the middle to late rounds.
Whats a real knockdown? If Martinez wasnt running maybe he would be upright. Williams punched him in the head and he got dropped.

No Williams doesnt usaully throw solid punches. Its rare when he sits on his punches.

of course he finished strong, Pavlik slow a$$ didn't make Martinez work like Williams did, Pavlik pace was so perfect for Martinez to let Pavlik stand their and just stick and move Pavlik dumb a$$ for 12 Rounds, Williams actually comes forward and uses an extremely HIGH work rate, that style can make any fighter tired

I agree with Bully. Its not like Martinez was just sitting around eating potato chips. Martinez was approached in the past by the Williams camp just in case Pavlik pulled out.

Martinez knew his fight would be Williams if caled upon.

It takes a lot of energy to move all night, but He has done it time after time. Second and third winds show that He is in good shape.
At the same time, Williams has been looking very vulnerable on his last fights.
Martinez has the physical, skills and mental edge for this rematch.

We'll have to agree to disagree on that.

Martinez had 4 weeks in camp. Williams, while its true having to switch your gameplan is tough, at least had the proper amount of time to be in prime fighting shape. I would have much rather been in Williams' shoes than Martinez's.

I dont see how he has a physical, skills and mental edge.

"only having to switch his gameplan"

Thats not an "only" that was CRUCIAL. Going from a slow, methodical, right hander to a fast, crafty, pure boxing left hander is kind of a big deal.
If you call averaging 60 punches per round with movement bad stamina, then yes, he has terrible stamina.

He had 6 weeks to switch up his gameplan... 6 weeks. And it's actually more than that because that's only when the fight was finalized after lees than a week or so of knowing that he was probably going to be the replacement.

He had more time in training camp, plain and simple. The difference in styles doesn't nullify the fact that he had already been training what he usually does for a fight.
