He had plenty of time so no reason for ppl always discrediting Tarver when really he was just better than the opponents Roy had fought recently around that time.
if you would do some research you'd know he was searching for other heavyweight fights, the most known, the one with mike tyson, tarver was a fall back plan if the tyson fight was'nt possible

And he didn't have 8 months to take it off.

He was still a heavyweight after the Ruiz fight trying to make a deal with Holyfield or Tyson, until they didn't work out.

He didn't know he was going back down to LHW directly after the Ruiz fight.

        12 - 15lbs is more accurate.

Either way, it was unbelievably noticeable that he was much bigger for the Ruiz right, and for the Tarver fight, he barely had any muscle tone.. and was ass tired by round 4.

Losing 10+lbs of muscle at 35 years old is going to effect you.

Just because people, whoever the hell they are? Are claiming he had to lose 25lbs, doesn't mean he didn't have to lose muscle mass... and it doesn't mean it didn't effect him immensely, especially at 35.

Of course tarver deserves credit for his performance as well.
roy is the one who stated he had to lose 25 pounds(most of which is muscle) to make the weight for the tarver fight. cmon id expect u to know this.

I dont care what Roy said.

Not everything every fighter says is Gospel.

Obviously he didn't put on 25lbs of muscle.

And he weighed 199 on fight night, not 200 or 201.

He had to have been eating more to put on that pure muscle, you can't gain any significant muscle weight without eating.

If he went back to what he was normally doing, his body would have went back to its natural state regardless of whether it was pure muscle which it was.

Tarver knocked Jones ass out 13 months after his Ruiz fight and had a light heavyweight fight at 175 with Tarver 6 months before that

Then after Ruiz he stayed at light heavy because the heavyweights would've killed his ass.

Funny how he never had trouble making weight since and went down to 169 for Trinidad.

The Trinidad fight was 5 years after the Ruiz fight? WTF

Roy got caught in the second fight, that much is obvious.

But, don't tell me the weight loss didn't effect him after losing muscle from HW.

He was ass tired by round 4... and tarver wasn't even fighting a high intensity fight.

Roys never been tired by round 4 a day in his life.

why would he have trouble making weight again? he adjusted and it's not like he went up another 25 pounds is it?

He was tired the first fight sure. But by the second fight when he got his ass brutalized it was over a year.

Then he showed by going so low so much later he was fighting at his proper weight the second time around when Tarver torched that egomaniac.
