RJJ didn't really put on much weight for the Ruiz fight

I hate when ppl talk about him having to lose 25lbs to fight Tarver the 1st time and this explains his still good but not as usual great performance against him.

For the Ruiz fight he came in at 193, wow he put on 18lbs of muscle for that fight sounds significant but its not like Roy is walking around at 175.

Typically Roy would come in on FN at around 182 still small for a LHW but this leads me to believe that walks around at least this making his weight gain really only around 10lbs at most.

I know they gave a FN weigh in of 200 for Roy but sounds like BS to me because it was a HW fight and why would he come in so much lighter if he didn't have to and risk possibly draining himself giving his opponent an advantage?

Roy is not a huge guy and 193 was all he can put on which is about as much and maybe not even as much as some LHWs walk around at, not to mention he had a full 8 months from the Ruiz fight to lose a measly 10 lbs.

The truth is a combination of time and Tarver being a good and at the time a hungry fighter is what attributed to Roy not looking like superman in that fight......not the moderate amount of weight he put on.

actuallyyyyyyy, he was weighed moments after the weigh in and he was 200 or 201 because the scale at the official weigh in was off. the next day the same man who weighed him admited he made a mistake the first time. u need to watch some more boxing documentaries. go to the video lounge and type in heart of a champion and dl it asap.

Even if that was the case its not 25lbs from normal like ppl claim because he is not really 175lbs, and plenty of LHWs are walking around at close to 200.

he weighed in at 200 or 201 and had to sweat off 25 pounds to make the 175 pounds weight limit right? ok then

Even if what you are saying is true, he wouldn't have stayed at that blown up weight permanently up to near the Tarver fight.

He had 8 months to take it off, you take in less calories you lose weight, up your calorie burning activity you lose weight.

He had plenty of time so no reason for ppl always discrediting Tarver when really he was just better than the opponents Roy had fought recently around that time.

I don't know who is claiming "25 pounds"... obviously he didn't put on 25 pounds of muscle.

            12 - 15lbs is more accurate.

Either way, it was unbelievably noticeable that he was much bigger for the Ruiz right, and for the Tarver fight, he barely had any muscle tone.. and was ass tired by round 4.

Losing 10+lbs of muscle at 35 years old is going to effect you.

Just because people, whoever the hell they are? Are claiming he had to lose 25lbs, doesn't mean he didn't have to lose muscle mass... and it doesn't mean it didn't effect him immensely, especially at 35.

Of course tarver deserves credit for his performance as well.

When fighting at 175, he always came in the ring in the 180s. Im sure walked around at a little more then that. Your probably right, only a very small 10-15 pounds at most.

Fighters half his size,in the welter-middle weight divisons do more.

ok, he didnt gain 25 pounds of fat, most of the weight he gained was as roy said it "pure muscle". just cause he had 8 months doesnt mean he was training for 8 months. tarvers a beast im not discrediting him but im just tellin u the facts that u arent aware of.

There's no reason to discredit Tarver, he won the fight obviously.

lets just not act like that was Roy at the top of his game.

When was the last time you saw Roy ass tired by round 4?

And it wasn't like Tarver had the punch output of a Calzaghe... they were boxing in the middle of the ring for the most part until Roy couldn't move and just resorted to covering up on the ropes.

His legs were completely gone by round 4.
