The truth. Yanks h8 British fighters. And ESP.Khan Coz he is ****** and that scares their prejudice. Khan puts bums on seats. Tim and Devon need to stop measuring ****s and square up. Amir puts them both on their ass. And David haye is smarter than clay. Who have the us of a got to take away the belts from the k and the k? Eh?Comment

This is exactly what is killing boxing, boxers pricing themselves out and living in a fantasy world where they think they are worth more than what they truly are. Then again they are not all at fault, this is the monster HBO Boxing has created.Comment

err maybe because he's the champion? maybe because he birngs millions to the table whereas Maidanna brings in peanuts???Khan is overpaid. I don't see why Khan should get more anyway, he lost to Prescott. Maidana's only loss is a highly dubious gift that they gave to Kotelnik in Germany.
50/50 split is fair. 60/40 is the least he should settle for. Khan is more hype than anything anyway.
50/50 is not fair.
60/40 is.Comment

He's the interim titlist, if he pushes his status, he can probably get 60/40 or better from a purse bid.Comment

Instead of making purse estimations based on other fighter's purses devon and tim should look at their own marketability because boxing wether ,we like it or not , is a business too and being the best doesn't necessarily guarauntee the best money . Anyway this will be a career high payday for both and will set up bigger fights and purses in the future.Comment

Yeah, these guys are being some bitches in my view. Neither one of them want to fight each other. And they think a big payday should just fall in their lap without them working for it. Things don't operate that way. Like people have said earlier, paydays, more leverage, and bigger fights will follow for the winner. Neither one of them want to take a chance.Comment

Bingo! They both need to look at their own marketability together instead of looking at Khan who is more marketable than them at the moment, If they get paid 1.5M now we can all kiss good buy to future fights or a fight with Khan because they would then demand 2.5M upwards..Instead of making purse estimations based on other fighter's purses devon and tim should look at their own marketability because boxing wether ,we like it or not , is a business too and being the best doesn't necessarily guarauntee the best money . Anyway this will be a career high payday for both and will set up bigger fights and purses in the future.Comment

Khan/Paulie did 1.22 million which wasn't the highest of the year, Cotto vs. Foreman did 1.6 million live and it was the highest. Khan did a great number, but he had a pretty marketable opponent too, Paulie isn't a PPV draw but he can bring up some nice HBO numbers. That being said there is no way these guys are worth that much or are going to bring in 1.2 million viewers, I'd be shocked if they did.$1.1M is double there current career high paydays!
Do they deserve more than Khan? For the level of oppostion they're facing, yes. For their popularity, no. Khan got HBO their highest rating of 2010 facing Malignaggi.
It's OK to want to get paid like Khan, but not to foolishly and stubbornly reject fights because of it. HBO needs to start blackballing if they don't get the fights they want.
'So you don't want to fight Alexander (or Bradley) for $1.1M? OK then, go fight Kaizer Mabuza on Showtime for less than half of that. When you're ready to accept the offer call us, until then **** off.'
That said, the promoters are slick pieces of ****, they go alone to HBO, so only they know the offer. HBO gave GBP $750K to make Ortiz-Campbell and GBP got the fighters to accept and made the fight for less than $250K, so they got to keep $500K..... $500K!!!!!! That's a huge disparity. And I heard boxing writers saying that this **** is standard practice because it's legal if they keep it for themselves. You can't trust nobody in this ****. The greatest sport in the world suffers greatly because of greed.
This the my source for the ratings by the way.Comment
