I personally can't speak for anyone else but myself but its a combination of many things such as:

      resume
wins over other HOF and ATG fighters
      accomplishments
      skills/talent
How dominate they were in their prime

just a bunch of things that could be used to make a case for them standing out amongst their peers and fighters from other era's.

How many of their kind are doing well today? None are.

Pep and greb wouldnt be able to compete with the latinos and the blacks of today.

Benitez, Whitaker, RJJ, Mayweather, Hopkins, Toney, SRL, Hearns etc are all more skilled than those lot.

Stop nuthugging fighters that you have never seen fight and realise why those kind of fighters arent doing so well today.
Willie Pep would schol the **** and make Morale look silly. Don't get it twisted. There are no Latinos IMO as great as Greb or Pep.

Pep had more skills in his pinky than Morales did in his whole body.

Thanks! I ask because its hard for me to talk about boxers that I haven't seen fight. So when I see so many people list names that they haven't seen actually fight except maybe on tape, its hard to wonder how a list can be really constructed.

As bernard hopkins said the same thing applies to Morales he wouldnt lose to that kind of fighter.

Pep fought bums and lost 11 times.

This I why I post a list. I would literally have to spend weeks if not months sitting down and analyzing these fighters fights as well as doing research on their resume/accomplishments and the back story behind their significant fights.

I can only take an educated guess or go off of credible peoples lists when it comes to ATG discussion....although I do believe I know enough to make a semi-good asessment (if that makes any sense) when it comes to certain things (e.g. me knowing that Benny Leonard resume is clearly better than Manny Pacquiao's).

But when you are fighting 12-15 times a year don't you expect to lose a few from sheer exhaustion and punishment?

I tend not to do ATG lists but just in my generation. I like to discuss only fighters I've seen. when we go to other eras its real tough. I mean Willie Pep fighting 15-18 times a year can't be done today. Jack Johnson having to deal with the climate in the country in th 1910's and 20's. I mean, could anyone imagine what he had to go through? It's just that boxing has changed so much across eras it seems hard for me to control for all the changes in the ring and out.

Pep would embarrass and humiliate Morales... GTFOH

And, if it was even possible that they fought just like Hopkins did you would look like an idiot.

The greatest whiter fighter in ATG's>The greatst Latino fighter in ATG's.

The only Latino fighter that come close to top 10 status is Roberto Duran that is it. While there are AT LEAST 3 white fighters in Greb, Pep, and Leonard who could hold the claim....

And, before anybody ban me for racism or whatever. I am a Latino but I just am speaking the truth here.
