We know Vazquez is a warrior now, but immediately following that fight his heart was being questioned. I think a young fighter with unlimited potential is very smart for stopping at the point he knew he could no longer win instead of takin unnecessary punishment that could affect his future. Im in no way dogging Vazquez, but he was being called a quitter from the same type of people I now hear call Ortiz a quitter with no future.
ortiz didn't have any surgery after his fight, and he STILL hesitates in his fights. he could still fight maidana, but he was mentally damaged. vazquez wasn't

Vazquez had already proven his mettle by that point and for him to quit like he did only proved that Rafa did serious damage to his nose.
I don't think anyone held that against him because of his history of Warriorness.
Ortiz on the other hand had no history of toughness to fall back on, he failed his first test at the hands of the most Dangerous Man at 140.
Marcos "El Chino" Maidana.
No racist.
Vazquez' nose was broken prior to when he quit, he fought a couple rounds with the broken nose before he decided to comeback another day.
If you wanted to prove Ortiz could still come back, Duran would've been a better comparison for quitting... Then again, Duran had already established himself as 1 of the best lightweights ever and #1 P4P for years before it.
Ortiz is unique in his case, but he can still comeback, just keep him away from iron chinned fighters. Kid looked uncomfortable as **** in the last rounds against Campbell. He might not be all there yet.

Ortiz' quit wasnt as bad as people make it out to be.
He was getting pummelled and there was nothing he could do about it. He went down had a bad cut and bruised up face what would the point be to continue just to get beat more?

Vazquez nose was broken and he couldn't breathe. Ortiz still had a shot at winning the fight.
Anyone who says Vazquez doesn't have heart has not followed his career at all. Ortiz still looks like he doesn't have it even in his recent fights.

Frankie Espinoza Sr.,
"What he (Dr. Robert Kottler of Beverly Hills) found out is that Israel had 90 percent blockage due to the cartilage in one nostril, and 100 percent on the other. So you only have an overall 10 percent breathing capacity. With that sort of limited breathing capacity, he said, 'I don't know how Israel made it to the seventh round.'
All that we have to do, he said, is to clear out the cartilage, and he can go back in six months and fight again. He said, 'Because God gave you a nose to breath with, and not with your mouth, and I don't know how he was able to breath that way for so long.'"
Vazquez nose was broken in the 2nd, BTW. He doesn't in any way deserve to be mentioned in a thread about quitters.

Victor was taking flush shot after flush shot from P4P one of the hardest punchers in the world
Its in his best interest to stop things before its too late, dude can get brain damage from an opponent like that
Ortiz will be a great champ
