Come on now, stop making excuse for him. He was fine until Maidana started getting him with solid punches, then he realized that Maidana was serious. That's when he started backing up, and if you look at the replay he was *****ing before the doctor even looked at him, that's a sucka move.

I can't wait to see what he's gonna do against another top 5 jr ww, he's gonna get trashed, I can't wait.

He'll be better prepared. He likely let stardom get to his head so when he fought Maidana he didn't expect it to be a war.

The same would happen if you were in a fight with someone you fought couldn't touch you. If they hit you pretty hard, you'd be in a state of panic. If you know the individual is capable of you, then you will know what to do when you're hurt.

And you're talking about comprehension issues?

"I'd be surprised if you couldn't work out for yourself which retirement "the public" (or the boxingscene public) would deem worse."

^^ I'll spell out the above more clearly,

I'd be surprised if you couldn't quite easily work out for yourself that "the public" (or the boxingscene public), in general, would look much more kindly upon Vazquez' retirement than Ortiz'.

Where did I even compare them or say anything about Ortiz? I didn't even mention Ortiz' name.

There is a distinction, though, between

your body not being up to the task of continuing

and being physically able to continue but pulling yourself out to fight another day.

I'm not casting an aspersion, just pointing out that distinction. Ortiz' case was a clear quit, Vazquez' case is much more arguable. Also, if you think having only 10% breathing while fighting isn't as potentially life-threatening a scenario as the one Ortiz was facing, you're nuts.
