I say this because even though I hated this guy, Marco Antonio Barrera had every opportunity to hide behind his promoter, a sanctioning body (via b.s. mandatory) and every other excuse in the book, but he said fvkk all of that and fought the best opponents possible.

More boxers need to man up and put their pants on. What Berto is doing is disgraceful.
I'm with you and I agree.

I think Martinez needs MAJOR props for willing to fight Williams immediately after Pavlik.

He just won the MW championship, and Pavlik chose not to exercise his rematch clause, which basically means, Martinez could sit on his titles and start defending against mandatories meanwhile making championship money on HBO.

But he isn't... he is going to fight Paul Williams. Credit to Martinez for it.

Well everytime He has gone against a top ranked Welter He has problems. I thought He lost the fight against Collazo and HE got lucky that Indio didn't show.
Who else, they didn't even try to remake the Mosley fight.
They have a long list of welterweights, but they are not looking for one. They are looking for a bigger name, but smaller size man.

Berto is not that good. i doubt he can beat Cotto. even if Cotto had been to a lot of wars. i still think Cotto will beat him at this point. i dont see him beating Mosley either.

            Boxing is all about footwork.

The greats like Manny, Mayweather, Duran, SRL, SRR, ALi have great footwork.

Berto does not and will be beaten by guys like Cotto, Mosely and Williams.

Berto has never impressed me and I never saw him becoming better to be great. Infact I don't think he is that good either.

In the past Berto has fought boxers from the super lightweight division, such as Urango and Forbes. It's definitely become a pattern with Andre.
Where's the option all of the above?

Not to mention hes a huge welter. Ive seen on HBO where he weighs in at 147 and comes into the ring at 161. Just makes it that much worse.

I also think he should be stripped. There is no reason he shouldn't be facing a credible opponent at 147lbs.

Hes a Haymon guy. What do Haymon fighters do?

                    Fight guys from lower divisions.

They are protecting his 0. But sooner or later he will have to fight a really top class opponent. DiBella doesnt want him to fight Aydin because he isnt a big name but if the guy is your manditory you should fight him regardless.
