Why does Andre Berto seek opponents from a smaller weight division?

Why is Andre Berto looking for a fight with Andreas Kotelnik or Marcos Maidana?

Why not another welterweight like Brooks, Clottey or perhaps Zaveck or Senchenko? Why in the name of heaven is he ducking his mandatory, Selsuk Aydin, who really isn't very good?

In the past Berto has fought boxers from the super lightweight division, such as Urango and Forbes. It's definitely become a pattern with Andre.

It's his promoter and manangement, IMO.

I don't think Lou DiBella or Al Haymon have a great deal of confidence in Berto's potential.

They want to keep him undefeated and on HBO because he is a consistent stream of revenue for them.

I honestly blame Lou and Haymon more than Berto himself.

But, Berto has to take control of his own career as well.

They are all at fault, and I'm one of the biggest Berto fans on the site.

      I'm getting sick of it.

      Maidana?

      GTFO.

Its sad. If you are going to fight smaller guys at least take on the best in the division, not Forbes, Urango, and Maidana.

I know a CONSIDERABLE amount of people on here will disagree with what I say next.

But I think Berto would beat aging Mosley, Cotto, Clottey, and Collazo again.

His promoters, IMO, certainly must not think so.

I was pretty surprised when they made the Mosley fight actually, but it never happened anyway.

He could beat Cotto, Clottey, and Collazo, those are even fights. I think Mosley still stops him though, Berto isn't exactly a defensive, accurate technical boxer, which Mosley is never competitive against.

yeah but fantasy fights don't count. I say strip him of the title if he fights guys at a lower weight.

Fair enough... IMO Either Mosley would KO Berto or get outworked.

Either way, they sure as hell don't seem to think so.

I never said they did... and I agree.

                  I'd strip him.

Because Berto is not that good. I remember there being so much hype about him. So I finally watched one of his fights. I watched Berto-Luzcano on SKY and oh boy did he suck. What talent? What skills? He was going there head first and had his chin hanging up there in the air. His pace was unorganized. If he fought like that against Mosley, Mosley would knock him the **** out.
