Alright, lets analyze this as best we can, On May 1st Mayweather was 33 (and still is...I know) Whereas Mosley was 38. So backtrack Mosley's career, say 5 years ago, and Mosley is 33 - and he is coming off of consecutive losses to Winky Wright, going into battle David Estrada. Mosley continued to win against mediocre opposition until he faced an undefeated Miguel Cotto, and lost by UD. Nearly a year later, he came in the ring with Mayorga and didn't look good at all. At this point in time, who would have even considered Mosley beat a fighter like Mayweather, a boxer in his own right...Styles make fights, and Mosley never looked good against a superior boxer. I think that Mosley loses by split decision to Mayweather if they were both 33 (which I don't consider to be Mosley prime years, but I'm trying to make a point). I think it's a closer, tougher fight for Floyd, but I believe he pulls it off (at 147, not 154), perhaps it will even be so close that people will argue Mosley had won. In any case, I think Mosley has had trouble with boxers throughout his career and nothing changes against Mayweather.
Before Mosley fought Margarito, nobody even believed this guy had anything left in the tank...I think the Margarito win was one of the more illusive wins in boxing history. B/c Margarito isn't a hype job, he's proved himself several times, even in losses he looked like a "warrior." We, as spectators, don't know what, or how much of Margs career is legitimate, we can only speculate. But if we look at that particular night, whether Margarito knew of what they discovered in his wraps or not, it immediately changes his mentality. Boxing is, as they say, greatly more mental than it is physical. We, again can only speculate, but who knows what the hell was going on in Margarito's head. Look at it like this, Margarito vs Mayorga, who wins? Why would Mosley have such a hard time with Mayorga and such an easy task with Marg? Boxing is very difficult to predict. Even I thought Mosley had a slight chance against Mayweather on May 1st, 2010...but I didn't look at the big picture, and when you do, you have to realize a 38 year old Mosley, had little to no chance against Mayweather. It would have been nice to see a younger Mosley in the there fighting against Mayweather, to make it a closer fight, but....what are you gonna do about it?
