If Mosely was at his Prime fighting Floyd who would have won?

During there fight Mosely was an old man in there, he needed a cane.. Too old, no stamina mouth already opened in the 4th round. He couldn't keep up, he had no stamina. He is just to old for an almost 39 year old fighter. It just shows people where fooled to believing he still has it.

As Larry Merchant pointed out in an interview, fighters who are past there prime will still create the illusion that they are good when faced with a slow fighter (Margarito), But if faced with a fast younger fighter the reality takes over and it usually shows the real picture that past there prime fighters can't compete with someone faster.

We all know Power is the last one that goes out from an old fighter, that's why he still caught floyd with a devastating right. It's just that he was too slow to compete with Floyd's youth.

If it was a young primed mosely who fought Floyd. Floyd would have his 2nd loss already ( castillo his first loss ). Mosely would have finished him of for sure. He just wasn't able to finish him off coz lets face it speed vs speed, a younger fighter will most likely have more to offer.

First of all you guys say Mosely ain't a prune coz he is still good for a almost 39 year old fighting May, but what more if Mosely was in his prime fighting Floyd.. Mosely wasn't competing at the highest level at age 38.

If Mosely was at his prime and landed that big bombs that buckled Floyd twice. It is not hard to believe that Mosely could have followed up and ended the fight.

I don't even think he would have to even follow threw with more punches. If a 38 year old mosely can buckle Floyd what more if that bomb that landed on Floyd was from a prime mosely. Lights out for sure.

PBF got caught by an old 38 year old Mosely. A faster stronger Mosely would have landed it much heavier if it was at his prime. I know Floyd has the ability to adjust. But what will he have to adjust from if Mosely gets that hard right bomb in there. It's over man. Floyd will go to lala land. If Floyd is still standing. He will finish him of with a barrage of punches. Ain't rocket science. Floyd has nothing to adjust coz he will be sleeping real good.

Floyd got rocked and was holding Shane on there previous fight, If Mosely was 33 who had more strength, speed, and stamina and he pushed Floyd away while Floyd was holding him for dear life for 30 seconds that he was dazed, Mosely could have went into a flurry and finished him off while FLoyd was disoriented and about to go down, he was really finding his bearings.. A 33 year old mosely would have flurried and finished him off. It's over for sure.

Sometimes boxing is brute force. 1 punch is all it takes to turn a tide.

Who wins a 33 year old Floyd (age he fought Mosely) vs a 33 year old Mosely? Same age who wins?

So far this poll seems to be almost a 50/50 split.. I guess these 2 fighters can be considered as equals.. But if Floyd calls himself the greatest he should pull away from Mosely if He wants to be higher than the Ali's and the Sugar Ray's.. This just shows he still has a lot to prove to be called himself the greatest.

Note: Mistext on poll question: I meant if Mosely "was" at his prime fighting floyd who wins?

It may have been his first loss, may not have been. It would have been a lot closer fight thats for sure. But give up on 'losing to Castillo', regardless if you, or anyone els in the world thinks he lost, the fact of the matter is taht he didnt. Get over it.

Mayweather still wins a decision in a little more competitive fight. You need to realize that it wasn't just Mayweather's speed that beat Mosley, it was his style. Mosley has no head movement and is a bullseye target for someone with Mayweather's accuracy.

Molsey's dash in and brawl style is perfect for counter punchers. When you have the ultimate counter puncher in there expect a lopsided performance which is what we got. Also, the second round where Mosley was unable to finish was due to Floyd clinching and his great high guard defense. It doesn't really matter how old Mosley was, he was clinched as soon as Mayweather was caught.

Last but not least, if you followed Floyd Mayweather's career you should know that Mosley did not fight a prime Mayweather. While Mosley is more past it than Mayweather, Mayweather is no spring chicken and is in the back half of his prime. Prime for prime, Mosley would have more stamina, but at the end of the day Meyweather is a horrible style match up for him.

He would have knocked him out, exactly why Floyd will never step in the ring against Pacquiao.

firstoff, it's strange that you didn't put them both at their prime in the title of this conversation and, secondly, realize that mayweather getting caught with an overhand right is close to what people would call a lucky punch. a slight roll of his shoulder and that punch is caught by one of his back muscles.

i still believe floyd would have out-smarted a younger mosley, too. even when you watch him at 135, mosley takes a lot of punches and seemed to have moments where you were forced to wonder "is he gassing." floyd would feast on those openings and breaks until mosley's other bad habit showed up. that is mosley's tendency to visible show that he doesn't think there is nothing else he can do.

out of ten, i do give a younger mosley 2-3 wins, as he seemed more crafty then, but i believe mayweather has always been more skillful as a boxer.
