What a fucking idiot angulo is. Asking for more money because the fight would be in California acting like he is Margarito coming off the Cotto win or some shit. What guy who is 19-1 that has never won a title and has never starred on a premium main event wouldn't want more than half a million dollars? His best win is Joel Julio for fucks sake and he was getting outboxed. How is he going to bitch because Martinez is getting more money? Martinez has proved his worth in the fights against Cintron, Williams, and Pavlik. He was a champion at both 154 and 160 AT THE SAME TIME!

BTW, when I met Sergio Martinez at the Citizens Bank Arena in Ontario, he was surrounded by Mexicans wanting autographs and pictures.

You have to be smart in boxing just like Mayweather and others that have avoided to fight real competition in order to keep ther 0 and make more money. Whether he tried to avoid the fight or actually make more money it was a smart move. Besides he did not turn it down, he was negotiating, something that most boxers dont do.

real question should be why is Martinez's team trying to get him a fight a guy with only 20 fights

El perro and everyone else knows Martinez will will easy, Angulo is not ready to face fighters like Martinez, Williams or Pavlik, these guys are too big for him, plus he is too green still.

He cant box, Cintron showed us that.

I like Angulo and his fighting spirit inside the ring but boy is he making a dumb decision. The most he ever made was $350k when he lost in an embarrassing performance vs. Cintron and has never held a title to date. He is getting a chance at the middweight title fighting at a catchweight and would be guaranteed back on HBO win or lose with a big $750K payday. The criticism that HBO spoils fighters that have accomplished nothing yet is being proven over and over again.

It is irrelevant who draws more to the live gate because Angulo has not proven himself as a true champion and cannot make demands at this point in his career.
Even whiners like Zab Judah had to take short money to fight spinks in the rematch to prove he was the better man. Angulo is in a similar position after blowing it against crybaby the frog Cintron.

Angulo will be lucky to make $350K in his next fight and will look like a complete coward.

                Dude is an idiot.

How many young fighters with 20 fights get a 750K payday and a chance to fight the best guy in the division for his belts? Martinez beat Cintron who beat Angulo.

HBO is already overpaying for the fight and now he also wants the live gate. He turned down the fight because HBO and promoters would not give him an extra 100K of the live gate? Dude acts like he's a draw in boxing.

Who said Martinez doesn't have a lot of fans in Cali? A lot of Mexicans love the dude. No ****.

Just want to throw this out there.

Alfredo "Perro" Angulo (when it looked like Martinez-Williams II was dead), and DiBella offered Shaw, Angulo's promoter, a package of about $1 million, Angulo turned down the fight.
                    http://espn.go.com/sports/boxing/blo...ns-door-others

Dibella offered them 1 million so Shaw just wanted to keep 25% right off the top? That pissed Angulo off or he didn't know about it?
