This thread really exposes people who don't know much about training and/or cutting weight.
Professional athletes, or anyone who train basically 4+ hours 5-6 days a week, need to eat tons of calories in order to maintain their body weight and/or prevent muscle loss. Google Michael Phelps' diet sometime. The guy consumes 10,000 calories a day when he's in training camp. 7,000 calories isn't to gain weight for his fights, it's to maintain his weight.
Athletes who have to cut weight for whatever reason usually have to skip meals, drink less water in order to make weight. This pretty much describes every boxer out there.
Pacquiao doesn't cut weight anymore, so he doesn't have to skip meals in order to make weight. If he wanted to make 140 or 135, he would have to start cutting meals and dehydrate right before the fight like every boxer does.
And for you keyboard warriors, yes, protein shakes count as a meal.
how do you have to eat 7000 calories a day...but you've grown into the division....thats an oxymoron isnt it??
When you train, you burn calories.
If you burn calories more calories than you consume, you lose weight.
Pacquiao doesn't have to cut weight anymore since he fights at 147, so he can eat up to 7,000 calories to maintain his weight.
That's not really that big a number. When you consider how much these guys train, professional athletes consume probably 6,000-10,000 calories on average.

my point is...if you've GROWN INTO THE WEIGHT...you dont have to be FORCE FED
skip meals as in...his regular intake (I'm guessing) is at least 8000 kcals.
this'll keep him at 145-147 for a WW weigh-in.....he'll rehydrate to 150-152 I'd guess.
for the margo fight (150 weigh-in), he wouldn't have to cut weight OR dehydrate himself. he'll be healthy as a fuggin ox. this is his limit...seeing as how he doesn't have to a cut a single calorie for the weight.
to make 140, yes he'd have to "skip meals" from his WW nutrition regimen (8000+ kcals a day). it's logical.
