Berto would beat Clottey via UD

why Clottey always gotta take on the tough opponents, give him a few winnable fights so he can get back on track and get his confidence back up first before putting him in another tough fight

Yeah I kind of feel this way too... Berto would UD Clottey but it just might be the best thing available for him unless he wants to see about the Angulo fight... now who would take that fight is a good question. Hmmmm I would probably pick Angulo I just like his conventional style and he's got some real power in that right hand.

Berto has never in his career had a performance as impressive as Clottey's against Judah or Cotto or even Margarito.
No way. Berto beat the outstanding WW Steve Forbes, and outpointed Juan Urango. Lets overlook the fact that many of us think he lost to the WW gatekeeper in Collazo.

Berto would thorw a punch or two, and clinch a stronger man, who has a better inside game.

Clottey has a great chance of losing based on ******ity, but he should win since he is plain better than berto skills wise.
Yup! No take at that. I guess it's Andre Berto we're talkin' about lol.

I just felt the guy had more potential, but like NATAS said it, he indeed fights like ****** sometimes. I feel he has a better chance with Clottey with this match-up if he focuses on Joshua's weak points while strengthening his advantages.

He may take a tune up. On his facebook a few days ago he asked his fans if he should take a BIG FIGHT next or take a "warm up". That's kinda what prompted me to make this thread, I figure the only "big" fight I could imagine him possibly getting would be against Berto. I don't think any other top name would fight him. Maybe Paul Williams would.

That totally slipped my mind, I forgot all about Collazo. I'm pretty certain I scored that one even at the time, that was actually a good fight for Berto as I think Collazo would have taken him in a rematch. Collazo is a good fighter but he fought Berto so tough with his technical skills and infighting, and Clottey is a few notches above Collazo in terms of skills.

The opponents may be tough, but he doesn't make it tough on himself by tryin' to win. So he sort of takes the easy route.

The same Collazo who lost to Ricky Hatton (clearly IMO), and took a 12 round ass kicking from Mosley.

I thought Ricky won close but clear and he clearly underestimated Luis. Had that been the Ricky from the Mayweather fight he would have run through Luis like a buzz saw. And yeah, Mosley kicked the living shyt out of poor Luis. In his defense he did break his hand early on in that one though.

Clottey beat Cotto in the eyes of many,he beat Judah and Corales in fights were he wasn't at all an heavy favourite.

                      He can win good fights.
Pacquiao and Margo's workrates were too much for him tough.

Berto is overrated,he get dropped by lightfisted fighters.
                      Clottey might stop Berto.

Now we don't know what is left of Clottey after the one sided Pacquiao loss...
