Its interesting how it works. Mayweather beats an undefeated fat boy in Ricky Hatton who has to drop weight just to make 140-147. NOT the other way around. Yet Pac beats an exposed, beaten and destroyed Ricky Fatton he ges praised?

Mayweather beats Hoya with zer advantages at Hoya's comfortable weight and everyone called Hoya old and washed up. Pac destroys Hoya and gets praised? lol How does that work?

Pac CLEARLY ducks "too good" Mosley several times yet Mayweather defeats him and gets bashed for beating the very same guy Pac just ducked.... How does that work?

So I like the "everything Pac touches turns to gold" because no matter how ****ty the fighter or event is.... he gets turned into greatness just to make Pac look good. lol
Well said, and hopefully people are starting to take off the rose-tinted glasses and see things for how they truly are. Biased viewpoints and not wanting to face reality have brought us to this. Beyond the "yes boss" demeanor and absent-minded smile, Manny is a carefully calculated, and yes, overrated, if talented, fighter. I don't take anything away from Manny, but all you need to say when you talk about fighters who duck, is look at who Manny has been fighting. The End.

this is very true in many circles. take solace in the fact that people unconsciously expect more from people/ things they believe to be capable of more.

there are still many fans, and "experts", that don't believe that pacquiao should even be capable of what he's been doing, even against fighters that have been as exposed as all of his recent opponents. he hasn't taken an "0" since being challenged by the very average jorge solis in 2007 because his handlers are no longer taking risky fights. roach has to see exploitable holes or no fight.

on the other hand, mayweather is expected to dominate off boxing ability, no matter how big his opponent is fight night, and he has. now, people want to see that domination taken to the next level because there is the feeling he could and should have knocked out everyone he's faced. and the crazy thing is, outside of de la hoya, i would agree that's not a crazy assessment of his potential.

Hey Fitz while your rightfully trashing the WBC and WBA why don't you also trash the IBO for sanctioning the Danny Green- Paul Briggs fight for their Cruiserweight title. Good article though.

          chea...

everyone is complaining about the bull**** title and catch weight, but the fight itself is okay. It's not what we wanted to see, but I suppose it won't be bad to see that cheater get brutalized again. However, Pac is not Mosley, as he doesn't possess the same physical strengh that Mosley had to clinch Marg after he got off on him. Between Cotto and Mosley I think Cotto is the harder puncher, but people need to realize that Cotto gave Margarito time to recover from the punches, and get his off, whereas Mosley didn't really give Marg any time to recover from his punches. Thus, Margarito was worn down quicker.

I think Pacquiao can outspeed Marg, and outbox him if he fights a fight similar to the one he fought against Oscar. Margarito is slow, and predictable, which is beneficial to Pacquiao. However, Margarito has a great uppercut which is a punch that Pacquiao can get caught with. Add that to the size, stamina, and workrate of Margarito, and you have a KO in the making, as well as a war.

That's two in two days. I have a feeling we're gonna see hundreds of articles like this before the fight. Another tuneup on PPV...unbelievable.

" Lest I forget, I chose De La Hoya by easy KO going in and never dreamed an upset would have approached the destruction Pacquiao unleashed."

                    Bad pick!!!

"But the Golden Boy's imprudent weight loss – 145 pounds?!? – casts at least some shadow."

It was Oscar's choice when he cherry picked a midget, let's not forget Manny had to came from 135.

"And an oft-unmentioned reality is Oscar’s seven-year absence from the division hardly makes any conqueror – even a streaking Pacquiao – an Armstrong-like claimant to the throne."

You should have take that in count when you picked Oscar by easy win Fitzy.

"Had De La Hoya lost to Steve Forbes at 147 a fight earlier, no one would have called the former “Contender” participant the division’s new terror."

                    WTF??
Yes but Forbes get beat for 12 rounds and that's it.No one would call Forbes a terror simply because he isn't elite and Forbes beating an even old Oscar is fantasy.

" But because he’s the “it” guy, anything Manny touches – even a guy whose last win at 147 came in 2001 – turns to gold."

Manny earned this "it" the right way.

"But the subsequent slight rise to meet Cotto at stand-in weight re-opens a can of worms similar to the one following the match with a shrunken Oscar."

No,the Cotto win was outstanding and a great fight against a very durable(not shrunken) Cotto, and the 145 factor is just important for *****s...(so for you Lyle as well)

"And let’s not even mention Josh Clottey, shall we?"

WE SHALL!!!He fought him at 147,funny how Clottey became a bum after losing 12 rounds against Manny.

                    Lyle the bitter *****...

Billy you're misunderstanding his statement about Clottey... He fought Miguel at 145 and then the next fight against Clottey was at 147...Why, cus he knew Clottey wouldnt be a threat cus Clottey already drains himself to make 147 to get better fights, just like Pwill does.

And to whoever made the post about cheaters... So Trinidad Tested Positive for Steroids?? I thought it was that someone didnt like the way he wrapped his hands... to my knowledge there wasn't any plaster in Tito's hands but w/e.
