No whats bull**** is dragging fighters up and down...Paul doesnt do that.

Floyd and Pac are the best 2 boxers in the world and HUGE paydays and you're telling me Paul is wrong to pursue that fight??

You say "welterweights" like its a bad thing. Explain.

Floyd and Pac are higher ranked than Martinez dont get it twisted.
He's basically been a middleweight for two years. That's why "welterweights" is a bad thing. It's the same situation as Bernard Hopkins coming down to 160 to fight Paul Williams or Sergio Martinez, just because he can make 160. Fighting Pac or Floyd is a lose-lose situation for everyone involved. If Paul wins, so what he was picking on little guys. If Paul loses, neither Pac or Floyd gets credit because at 147 Paul Williams is drained. Martinez is an immeasurably more credible opponent for Williams, p4p rankings don't mean sh** when you're talking about a middleweight vs. a welterweight.

Also, Paul Williams has very little to NO shot at getting a fight with either of those guys, and instead has a fight with the MIDDLEWEIGHT CHAMPION OF THE WORLD, WHERE HAS BEEN FIGHTING FOR TWO YEARS. So once he finally realizes he won't be getting a fight against Mayweather and Pacquiao, he'll end up fighting some opponent who isn't as good an opponent on Martinez.

its a shame arum is only letting packy fight top rank fighters. as long as the public supports it arum will keep doing it. its a joke. williams & berto are more deserving!

At least arum puts his fighters against each other. Not like al haymon, who won't put any of his fighters against each other. If so, we'd see mayweather vs. Williams or williams vs. Berto or berto vs. Mayweather.

Williams brings nothing to the table at welterweight. He should fight berto for teh belt, so that he has a belt to bring to the table, but he won't cause his advisor won't allow it!!....or he's scared of berto!

I honestly thought Cotto was too big as did 90% of the boxing community. Pac passes that test. Then he fought a guy in Clottey who rehydrates to the mid 160's....and passes with flying colors. Now he will be facing an Antonio Margartio who not only will be in the mid 160's and possible 170 on fight night, but is also 5-11 with a 73 reach advantage. Let Manny pass this test, then we can talk about him facing bigger guys like Williams and Martinez.

I mean as amazing as Roy was in his prime, no one expected him to go to HW and fight the Lennox Lewis', Klitschko's and other huge HWs at the time. The fact that we hold Manny to these standards and not even legends like Roy is really a testiment to Pac's greatness.
This argument would have more validity if Pac and Marg were fighting at welter weight. But they are not, he is moving up to 154 to fight a guy Paul Williams has beaten. Paul Williams wants to meet Pac where he currently resides, welter weight. To play devils advocate, if this was Mayweather....would you ask the boxing community to wait for him to get acclimated to the weight class. Come on dude, Pac is Champion at 147 pounds and people still feel like he needs crutch. If Pac will fight anybody, (which he will) why don't the REAL boxing fans support him in that. For the record, Pac is not afraid of Pwill...but his fans are. LOL!

How is it 160 vs. 147 when Paul is stepping on the scales at WW??? Cmon man. This is like something I d expect from a casual fan.

Berto, Cotto and Clottey all come in heavy if not heavier than Paul does at WW. No excuses.

You cant knock a guy for going after the best fighters in the sport. Thats just dumb. I know Im right because when Martinez said he wanted Mayweather you were all for it. Les not switch up because Pac is involved.

You ct like guys cant drop down in weight? Where were your post when Dawson wants to come down to 168??

NSB needs to be consistent. Williams pulled Pacs card and now his fans are saying "well hes a middleweight".

                Cmon.

If anything, Paul should go up and fight Kelly Pavlik. Isn't that the fight he wanted for so long? Kelly is finally "Healed" and shouldn't find an excuse not to fight Paul. This would get rid of the notion that PWill is going down and picking on smalller guys

                    Cmon.
I've been very consistent on this. I've entertained the idea of Paul vs. Floyd at 154 or Sergio vs. Floyd at 154 as more of a "damn, Floyd would deserve all the credit in the world for that" kind of idea. That doesn't mean I want either to be fighting Mayweather, unless Mayweather goes hunting for them. Those two have no reason to be searching out Floyd or Pac unless Floyd or Pac want them.

Let's say Bernard Hopkins a couple of years ago had decided to drop down from 175 to 160 to pick on Paul Williams. That would be ludicrous and Bernard Hopkins would deserve no credit for that. Yes Hopkins could make that weight, but that doesn't mean he should be picking on smaller guys. If Pacquiao dropped down to 135 to start beating up on Katsidis he would deserve no credit, doesn't matter if he could make the weight.

Dawson is a completely different scenario. He has one fight he might drop down to 168 for because of lack of big fights at his own weight. Paul Williams isn't lacking for opponents, he has a date ready to fight for the f***ing middleweight championship, against an opponent that provides plenty of hype of excitement for the fight. If he doesn't take it, and you know he won't get Pac or Floyd, he'll end up fighting someone who doesn't provide half the publicity or give him anywhere near the credit he gets if he fights Sergio.
