Just watched Toney vs Jirov again..

After watching the fight for a second time, it was truly something else. Defintley the best crusierweight fight Ive seen in a while. I disagreed with Ledermans score card through out the whole fight and from listening to him rant felt bad for Jirov so looked for some rounds to score to him. I ended up scoring it 115-113 Toney but I agree with the judges wider gap. Every round Toney outlanded Jirov but was not the agressor (not Toneys style). The best part though was the end interview when Lampley was basically yelling at Toney "James please answer the questions we're on TV!". James was yelling at Chris Byrd for a good ammount of the interview. Overall it was one of the best fights Ive see and I was just wondering does anyone else see the scoring any different?

I dont know what Jirov has done with his career since that fight.. he went on to get back on track and beat two bums then moved up to heavyweight and lost a close fight to Mesi..I thought he had something going until he got dropped by Michael Moorer. After taking bombs from Toney and Mesi, he gets KO'd by Moorer.. dont understand it. Since that fight hes been working his way up fighting bums to get another weak title shot. I agree with you.. time to move back down!

that was a really good fight, i could imagine that was very hard for the judges to score without punchstat numbers. I kinda reminds me of the Tarver vs. Johnson 1st fight, where Johnson push the fight, but tarver was more effective

It was far too close to call going into the last round,it wasnt clear that Toney was winning and I dont think he was,you have to watch it with an open mind and I think it was equal. And whats happened to Jirov since then??

he won a few, then got KOed by Michael Moorer in a fight he was ahead in...a single straight left hand down the pipe...

That sounds about right to me, I gave Jirov a round just on Lederman making me feel like I was a fool to make him losing like I had it. But you are right on point with the scoring.

I had the fight very close and thought the 117-111 card was out of line.

Toney certainly won that fight but it was Jirov who made that fight!
