The sad thing is that he IS calling out Cotto while he is again in negotiations with Floyd.In the past,when Manny was negotiating with anyone else,he never was looking for other opponents.

Seems odd to me-especially when you take in to account that all of his recent negotiations have been called off at some point (except with the desperate Clottey)-yet he never threw out other names during negotiations...

I think he simply mentioned he's open to fighting cotto again. But its all in the context of not fighting Floyd.

Remember that he's a congressman now, and he will no longer have as much free time in his hands. It just means he really has no time to wait for floyd and wants to fight SOMEONE this november should his negotiations with floyd jr fail.

1) Look what happened in December. Fight didn't happen

2) Due to #1 plus having the information (negotiations) that they already know of, gives them a strong indication that Floyd will reject the deal (eg. Roger going to court .... tax reasons.... whatever)

So they need a backup plan just in case .... and from the latest threads, it may be a smart thing to do (plan B) or else there will be no fight for Manny in November

You obviously have a different view point of the fight-most observers felt it was a VERY close fight where Shane was extremely competitive.That hardly sounds like your "idea" of beating the **** out of him"...Now Floyd vs Shane...that is another story!
