Who else was available when Floyd ducked Pac? Everyone with half a name was already signed including Shane.

          2) Due to #1 plus having the information (negotiations) that they already know of, gives them a strong indication that Floyd will reject the deal (eg. Roger going to court .... tax reasons.... whatever)

So they need a backup plan just in case .... and from the latest threads, it may be a smart thing to do (plan B) or else there will be no fight for Manny in November
I disagree (respectfully of course). They could fight a competitive fight without Cotto-what is the basis that even warrants a rematch??? If Shane and Floyd fought again, would you support this?

Maybe they are looking at a "plan B" too quickly. If they are not confident that Floyd will not sign the contract, don't you think this could be because the contract that was offered was on terms that they know Floyd won't accept??? It is possible definitely.

They need to focus on the Floyd fight-not options so early in the negotiation process. They need to do what it takes to make the fight, not offer a deal that is no longer valid. Arum is a big part of this I believe.

If Floyd and Manny TRULY agreed on terms,I believe it gets signed...seems too fishy that it wouldn't get signed if they both agreed...why would Floyd (or anyone for that matter) waste time negotiating a fight if they had no intention fighting-especially if Floyd was really going to take a year off...sounds like a "take it or leave it" contract as opposed to negotiating.

Hopefully we gain more clarity in the following weeks.

You didn't answer my question, who else with a half decent name could he have fought?

They have the deadline because the need to get marketing going for the November 13th fight date, simple. So a plan B would make sense to any business man right?

Paul Williams tried calling him out...Yuri Foreman called him out...both of those guys are better and more competitive.
They are also more well known than Clottey and are apparently too "tall" for Manny.

Even Bradley was willing to move up and fight Manny,as well as Paulie Malignaggi....I don't suggest that these two would win a fight with Manny, but they would actually fight instead of throw a huge fight away citing "tummy problems" as a way of losing!

Paul Williams - maybe, does the risk/reward work out here? hmmm but that might have been interesting. No doubt Paul coming back down to 147 would have everyone spouting the weight drained nonsense again.

Yuri - Nah, never heard of the guy before the Santos fight, more props for taking on Clottey who's much tougher and at least known

Bradley - Who? Dude isn't even remotely known to casual fans. Maybe when he builds his name a bit more.

Paulie - Come on, you would give Manny more credit for beating down Paulie than facing a tough fight in Clottey? Would of been like a man hitting a woman with a baseball bat in the face.... repeatedly

If they gave him a deadline to respond, why go looking elsewhere if team Pacquiao are confident that they sent a legit contract that fulfills both parties wishes and requests.

I will wait and see what happens. With the Floyd and Shane fight,it took Floyd some time to get it signed-I am sure he has his lawyers scour the contracts looking at every fine detail.Let's hope this is the case, otherwise ALL the fans lose.

You always have to have a contingency plan man, that's all.
