Thats not true, theres tons of white boxers. In fact from middleweight up there are more top white boxers than any other race.

Fact is boxings been losing ground since the twenties, back then boxing was the second biggest sport behind baseball. Now with more sports vying for the attention of fans like football, basketball, Hockey, and now MMA, boxing can has more competition for the hearts of fans.

I think the main problem with boxing is the promotion and not the belts etc. but it seems as soon as a boxer loses there Market Value goes down by a huge amount.

If Mayweather lost decisively I doubt he would do many more 1+ million PPV buys but it seems like in UFC the way it's marketed if a fighter loses it doesn't matter at all because of the promotion. Couture is a huge draw in UFC terms but he has 10 losses (7 in the UFC) Lesnar lost his 2nd fight and he draws 1 million+ PPVs.

Chuck Lidell could probably lead a 700K PPV even though he shouldn't be fighting and lost most of his last fights, It's the way Boxing is promoted. Boxing as a sport needs to ignore records etc. and need to start fighting the best. The UFC are MADE to fight the best 3 times a year.

If Boxing had that it would be HUGE like ridiculous image if Mayweather was forced to face (after Oscar) Cotto, Margarito, Mosley then Pac and imagine if no one cared that Cotto, Mosley, Pac all lost and they could still go on to do big TV numbers. Imagine if Haye and Wlad were forced to fight otherwise they'd be dropped by any promoter.

We would have had boxing's biggest fights and then some.

White is white, it doesn't matter where they're from. A lot of White kids who play soccer in the US will tell you their favorite soccer player is Beckham or Michael Bollock who are both European before an American like Landon Donovan. White kids who play hockey will tell you their favorite player is a Canadian like Crosby or a Russian like Ovechkin before an American like Ryan Miller. For White kids who play baketball the players they like the most are usually Steve Nash a Canadian or Dirk Novitski a German.

MMA will continue to grow but I dont see it ever taking over boxing. There is just more demand for our sport, Alot of people look at MMA as kind of glorified street fighting. Boxing is an art, There has never been guys in MMA as big as Muhammad Ali or Floyd Mayweather. Because nobody has mastered MMA, Which leaves you to question how skilled those guys really are.
MMA will grow but like boxing it will hit a ceiling. Boxing is forever, the only people making millions of dollars in MMA is Dana White and an old WWE superstar

Some of you guys said that white Americans follow MMA, well, I keep hearing that soon white Americans will be a minority in America and that Latinos will overtake the country. LAtinos like boxing so MMA is going to die.....J/K

Anyway, I don't care about MMA. I love boxing and MMA is just not appealing to me. IF boxing does die like some of you are saying it will make no difference to me because I'll still be a boxing fan.

I am a Huge boxing fan.. have been since i could remember.. At the same time i've always been a avid hater of MMA.. never liked it.. until the last year or so when i actually started wathcing it..

Why did i start watching it? Simple.. Its on FREE TV.. not HBO which you pay for monthly.. On VS. , Spike, CBS... Im sure if they showed bigger fights.. even Replays of PPV fights for boxing on free TV then boxing might regain alot more intrest.. just my opinion...

But Boxing will forever be more popular than MMA.. It will never die...

What if the flying ***?????!!!! Boxing has been global for a long ass time and is practiced and live events happen all over the world. Outside of Soccer, Boxing is the most global sport in the world. If you look at any Saturday in the sport of boxing more than 10 different countries are showing live Boxing events. Yeah, Boxing ain't global........right on buddy.

I'm from Australia and trust me. EVERY YOUNG KID is taking up MMA or talking about MMA.

It has been marketed very very well and hence is drawing the younger generation towards it. It's the 'hip' thing to do right now.

People in America or other older boxing nations probably don't see the spread of MMA as boxing has a strong foundation in them countries. But if you look at countries without a boxing history. 100% guaranteed MMA is ruling supreme in them countries. Boxing is almost dead here in Australia.

You won't find a person let's say under the age of 20 even talk about boxing or know who the fk majority of these boxers are. Hell there ain't even that many boxing gyms here in Sydney. But if you goto a regular gym and walk into the kickboxing rooms. EVERYONE is practicing MMA. Rarely will you find kids boxing.

I think give maby 10 more years. MMA is gona have a big big big stronghold in countries without a boxing history.

The way UFC markets MMA is brilliant. They ACTUALLY take the show to different countries. We just had some UFC here this year and it sold out in like 30mins. That's like as quick as a U2 concert selling out.

I mean seriously. When was the last time a big fight was held OUTSIDE USA??? I don't know how they can expect the sport to grow if all they wana do is hold every fight in Vegas??
That's also probably due to the fact that an MMA promotion only has one champion in each weight class, not 5 different belts with up to 5 different champions. There's also fewer weight classes, so it's also easier to keep track of, plus the fact that the best fighters fight each other a lot more often in MMA and champions have to fight the best opponents to keep competing. You never really hear about this guy ducking that guy or one guy avoiding another guy or avoiding some opponents and fighting only hand picked opponents to boost their record or hold onto a title longer. MMA keeps it simple. The best fighters fight each other and champions have to fight the number one contender. None of this Mayweather/Pacquiao stuff where it takes months to negotiate, it's just these are two of the best so we'll have them fight each other and the fighters agree to it.
