The difference is that there is no such thing as a Journeyman in MMA. Your either a bum or not.
Not true there are plenty of journeyman MMA fighters.

Chris Leban, Chek Congo, Jeremy Horn, and Clay guida are all examples of Journeyman Mixed Martial Artists in the UFC. But even those guys are good at what they ***ing do.

It's a different world. There are more ways to lose. You aren't being coddled until you're 20-0 just so you can have more mystique and hype around your record.

            No it's true.

There's a recipe in boxing. Too many promoters follow it. They think you need 10-20 fights against no hopers to either hype you up or get you "ready" MMA doesn't have that yet. If you're ready, you're ready. You won't see an MMA fighter 15-0, 20-0 without a real test on his record.

Also you have to look at who Couture lost to. Lidell, Lesnar, Noguira, and other good fighters.

thats because they in it for the quick buck. you have to build a fighter. fighters get better and need a chance to blossom. you bring a boxer up too quick and it ruins their career.

lol, I never heard the term "journeyman" used in MMA. Not even by the commentators.

But I guess your right, they would be the equivalent of journymen.

MMA is still young. It's the same thing boxing went through in it's early stages. A bunch of bar room, hobo, street fighters that put on gloves and tried to make a quick buck.

That's why all the best MMA fighters are actual Martial Artists. GSP did Kyokushin Karate way before he got into MMA. BJ Penn did BJJ before ever getting into MMA. Anderson Silva did Taekwondo before even getting into boxing. Dan Hardy literally trained with Shaolin Monks in China. Fedor did Sambo way before getting into MMA. I can go on and on.

The future will be just like boxing. Kids being groomed specifically for their sport.
