An Over the hill B-Hop still beats 95% of fighter out there.

Even now I think he'd give every fight from 168-175 a very tough fight.

Hopkins is not an easy fight for anyone, if Ward and Hopkins fought today it would be like watching a young hopkins vs a more experienced, savvy but less athletic Hopkins.

Foreman beat Frazier easier than Ali beat Frazier so it stands to reason Foreman>Ali?

agree with this whole statement, it doesnt mean calzaghe can beat all the fighters hopkins beats though.

            Joe Calzaghe= GOAT
Andre Ward=Some boxer who isnt close to as good as Joe Calzaghe

Calzaghe by stoppage in round 8. Joe could fight more technically, he knew he could do this, fact is, in every single fight he focused more on having fun and giving the fans a show than actually boxing. I think thats why he "struggled" in the Hopkins fight (if you consider struggling as being grabbed, headbutted, and rabbit punched meanwhile your opponent fakes injuries...)but Hopkins didnt allow joe to have any fun in the ring, he was a chump. Joe wanted to fight, HOpkins wanted to clinch and headbutt.

To even be remotely competitive Ward would need a ref to allow him to do his cheap ass ****.

I dont like Calzaghe at all but your statement is totally flawed. Ward has only been champion for about 7 months and has only beaten about three Top 10 opponents. Calzaghe, whether you rate his opposition or not, The guy made 21 defences of the title and picked up 2 other belts along the way. Ward has only had one title defence, So to claim he has a better resume already is ******. Let's see where he is at in 5-10 fights time and then it would be a realistic debate.

Calzaghe far superior fighter. Who knows how Ward progresses in the future. But right now...no.

                      *BUT*

Some People think he could beat him using his box (1 punch?), grab and maul style right?

Well let me ask you this: if Bernard Hopkins; the master of grab, maul and inside fighting could not maul Calzaghe what proof do anyone have that Ward could?!!?! Unless you're saying Ward is a better inside fighter than Hopkins who is a recognized ATG..........

Lets go one further. if you watch the Hopkins v Calz fight you'll actually notice how Calzaghe - who has never really fought maulers before - superbly nullified Bernard's inside fighting by beating him at his own game and tying his left arm up and tucking his body in making bernards' rabbit punches impossible.

So I have to ask again: Why are people here - and on other forums - saying Ward beats Calzaghe. Styles make fights I've just broken it down for eerbody in this fight HOW can Ward beat Joe!?!?!
The Hopkins analogy is worthless. Ward is naturally bigger and stronger, and far hungrier/far more active in the ring. A more active Hopkins would have easily beaten Calzaghe, so I don't see why it's so outrageous to think Ward could take 7 rounds off him.
