A good valid point made here regarding Joe's lack or risk taking.

      1) Joe would never have risked entering the S6 and early in his career i agree. he has only himself to blame for that he was afraid to attempt greatness and that's gonna hurt his legacy.

Even then though we're comparing skill sets not records in this thread

      2) Ward has refused to fight outside of Oakland. Is that really any better when you think about it though?

You obviously don't know what you are talking about.

Ward fought and beat the best supermiddleweight in the world at Age 25.

When Calzaghe was 25 all he was doing was fighting at home against a bunch of handpicked also rans.

Calzaghe's fear must have been 10 times greater than Ward's because Calzaghe didn't get up the sack to fight a guy on Kessler's level until he was 35 years old.

And where did Calzaghe fight Kessler? In his hometown, out of fear.

I respect him as well, but it's hard to say how good he was because he never challenged himself.

Calzaghe has only himself to blame, with just a few different choices and a willingness to leave England for at least 1 fight that mattered he could have elevated himself to a much higher status.

Nobody with any sense is giving him any credit for beating Roy Jones or Jeff Lacy, Hopkins OK sure a little credit, but only about 10% of the credit Calzaghe would have gotten had he fought him 5 years prior.

lol Come on man, you really think Calzaghe would be scared of Pavlik enough to duck him?

Ward would school and embarrass Calzaghe. The fight wouldn't even be close and wouldn't be sanctioned. Ward beat Kessler better than Calzaghe and this was when Ward was green.
