The promoter’s expectations fell short from their projected profit. What they did was spend more than the required budget to promote the fight but their expectation came up at least 65% short.

If they know beforehand that the fight will flop (based on their expected revenue) then they won't spend that kind of money just to promote the fight. If I'm not mistaken the 24/7 HBO shows was amplified from 5 part series instead of the standard 4 series show.

Shut the **** up.

It's sad to hear that buddy. I read another post of yours a few weeks ago and said to myself, I wish everyone would post like this guy.

Today, well, what can I say.... not worth saying much.

You plainly do not understand economics. If you are forecasting 4 but get 1 then you have to be disappointed somewhat. Golden Boys really thought this fight was going to be bigger than 1.4 or else they would be more moderate and said, 1.5 or 2. Even though there may be some hype, they want to show themselves as credible people.

It's common sense (Expect 4, getting 1.4 = not thrilled) .........but you think I am someone who goes for Manny no matter what..... that assumption of yours is also completely incorrect. I give the advantage to Floyd but hope Manny the underdog will pull it off.

why are you so obsessed with the raw numbers?

transformers 2 has taught us you don't need a quality product to get good numbers just good marketing. floyd demanding more money than pacquiao is like megan fox demanding more money than robert deniro cause she was in a movie that grossed more than his. sorry toots you were just a product of a snazzy marketing campaign just like mayweather. deniro is the real deal and can generate enough money without prancing around like a fairy in a gladiator costume.

you shouldn't put this all on richard standing at a podium talking...when they sit down to figure numbers...they do a maximum/minimum prediction...they factor in who gets paid what and how much they will spend on marketing...if you think they said "we'll get 4 million easy" and proceeded to spend as if their minimum would be around 4 million...than i could see it being a fail...but i promise you...these people have been in boxing for years...they probably go by trend analysis and demographics...as well as a lot of other marketing tools to decipher how much they want to spend in dollars...

so the real question should be "did richard schaefer succeed in what he predicted?" the answer is a no...but if you think that these people are true dunces with no analytical business savvy...then go right ahead and assume that they all thought they would see 4 million buys and proceeded to bank on that number...
