I few years back when Wlad was righting all his wrongs- he had just beat Brewster; he expressed a desire to rematch Sanders. Sanders was on the comeback trail and just had to get a couple wins under his belt and get ranked by one of the sanctioning bodies. Sanders never got the chance, he was KO'd in the first round by some tomato can and shortly after retired...

the reason people are skeptical of wlad is because he has had embarrassing defeats to lesser opponents.

and like you said - all of that is according to sanders. do you think sanders is going to say what the poster above you said? given, i didnt know anything about a sanders rematch either way. i figured that sanders gave up boxing after taking a brutal beating by vitali. i never saw or heard of him doing anything after that fight. besides, there was really no demand for a rematch. it definitely should have happened though.

Klitshcko was in the rebuilding phase after the Sanders fight and he was set back again by Brewster. I don't blame Wlad for not wanting to rematch that early...

Just to get your facts straight why the rematch didn't materialize:

After the loss to Sanders Wlad lost to Lamon Brewster and then 14 days later Corrie Sanders lost to Vitali Klitschko and eventually RETIRED.

2 years later Sanders planned a comeback (due to money issues) and aspired a rematch with Wlad but got stopped by his 3rd tune-up fight (vicious body shot by Machimana 14-5).

Having said that: Wlad should do everything everything everything to avenge this loss. I disagree with Emmanuel Steward who said that the Brewster loss was haunting the record of Wlad. It was always the Corrie Sanders loss and not the Brewster loss that was more grave.

Instead of offering Haye 50-50 he should offer Corrie Sanders a few millions.

true...I remember during the ringwalk merchant pointed out sanders was wlads tenth choice of opponent when he couldn't find a fight...9 guys turned down the biggest payday of their careers but sanders jumped at the opportunity...that was definately the meaning of " make the most of it"

It sure was. And that win set him up for another big payday against Vitali. Do you know any of the fighters that turned the opportunity down?..

Which is a lie, Sanders' was the WBO champ and had to abandon the title, in fact the reason Wlad fought Brewster in 03(for the WBO strap) instead of Sanders was because Corey decided to go for less money/better perceived chances for the WBC title instead of giving Wlad an earned rematch.

wlad could have had a rematch with a snap of a finger...sanders comeback(2 years later)has nothing to do with what I'm saying...
