Who are these speedy boxers that have outclassed Margarito? Don't say Santos because a TD is as good as nothing and Santos IS NOT a slick boxer.

I think the jury is still out on Margarito. He has the good wins over Cintron and Six Heads but really hasn't had a great or poor showing on a world level. What we do know is that he has significant size, power, reach, and probably chin advantages. He also becomes a monster in the second hald of fights. A lot of punches = getting hit with power shots that you don't see. Floyd would have to hurt Margarito to the body in the earlier parts of the fight or would just have to move very well for 12 rounds. I give Margarito a punchers chance at least but would favor Floyd.

I saw it on ********** but I figured it was a mistake - it was originally announced that PBF would be back on Nov 12th

Reason I'm thinking Aug 12th is wrong is that first it's a Friday, and second just over a month is not a lot of time to get an opponent and build a PPV.

Also - if Floyd really is going to go straight up to 147 won't he want to manage the transition a little more smoothly - ie take a little time to figure the best way to put the extra weight on?

Mayweather has came in close and around 150 for his 140 fights. Id say train the same way just dont dehydrate before the weighin. That would give Mayweather a HUGE advantage

Their is not a bigger fight than can be made today, other than Hatton/Mayweather, to me it has classic written all over it. A freestyle brawler who no disrespect to Kostya, made the ex-king of 140 piss blood vs. the most talented boxer today, this fight tops my most wanted fights to see today.

I just googled this, and I'm sure something would be there if that was so. Not a single site said anything about this. I think it's wrong.

Floyd's always fought the best, there's no reason to believe he won't continue to do so.

I stand corrected, however Margarito isnt a fast fighter. I still think Mayweather gives him fits and probably gets the nod via UD.

Agreed. He tends to plod a little and that won't fly against Floyd.

I just think PBF is going up to fast and against Margarito who ok isnt the best around but is pretty good and the f**ker last along time. He also pretty strong and has great reach (seize) over mayweather. True i still see it going more towards mayweather but it is more than just very likely mayweather might get caught. Margarito gets better as rounnds go on and if you fight him and cant handle is power he will out you out. Mayweather has to move all 12rounds and know he cant ko this guy to win.

I think alot of people are underestimating Margo. He is a very good fighter with a stong chin. He is a very strong fighter. I wouldn't pick him to win neccesarily, but it would be no blow out like Gatti. Margo will put the pressure on and is much bigger than FM. Mayweather would probably be able to stay away and win a decision..but I don't think he can ko Margo.

                      Tough first fight at Welter
