i know, it's their own consolation prize for themselves because outside of this thread no1 will ever agree with them nor take them seriously.. unless its people from their own house or their friends.. pretty sad stuff

Who "won" that year in your eyes?

          I go like this:

          2000- Floyd
          2001- Floyd
          2002- Floyd

          2003- Pac
          2004- Floyd
          2005- Floyd
          2006- Floyd
          2007- Floyd

          2008- Pac
          2009-Pac

2000: Floyd beat Emmanuel Augutsus. Pac beat some dude named Kon-Chae and in the Hussein fight was almost KO'd by a jab.

2001: Pac had 4 scraps was very active. However his best win was against Ledwaba. Floyd beat P4Pounder Diego Corralles and Jesus Chavez.

2002: Floyd beat Castillo twice. Pac beat Jorge Eliecer Julio and Fahprakorb Rakkiatgym.

2003: You have to give to Pac for the MAB win.

In 2004: Floyd beat Chop Chop. Pac had a draw with JMM and beat 3K.

2005: I gave 05 to Floyd because Manny lost a fight, to a past it Morales nontheless.

2006: Floyd beat Judah and Baldomir 2 out of 3 of the Top WW's and won the 147 Lineal Title. In that same year Pac beat a shot Morales twice and beat Oscar Larios.

2007: Floyd beat Oscar and Hatton. Pac beat a shot MAB and Solis.

          2008: Floyd was retired.

2009: Floyd beat JMM in a tune up. Pac had Cotto. He gett that year.

          Year by year its interesting.

IT'S EVEN MORE INTERESTING WHEN YOU DO THE P4P RANKINGS YEAR-BY-YEAR.

Pac was never ranked higher than Floyd while they were both active. In fact, Floyd was on the p4p list for the entire decade.

FIGHTER OF THE DECADE: An interesting look

For you guys that know me, you know that I’m a numbers geek and I like to perform statistical analysis. It’s the engineer in me.

So, with that, I decided to take a look at the “Fighter of the Decade” discussion in an objective way, without the influence of politics, popularity, or hype. The numbers below represent the individual and aggregate rankings for Ring Magazines’s annual “100 Best Fighters”.

This is for the purposes of discussion. After all, this is a forum. As a (reasonably) intelligent person, I do not rely purely on numbers. As my Econometrics professor would say (quoting Mark Twain), there are three types of lies: lies, damn lies, and statistics.

              Here ya go.

Year, Fighter and Rank (1-100, 1 being best)

              2001:
              Mayweather: 3
              Hopkins: 7
              Pacquiao: 28

              2002:
              Mayweather: 7
              Hopkins: 1
              Pacquiao: 34

              2003:
              Mayweather: 7
              Hopkins: 2
              Pacquiao: 32

              2004:
              Mayweather: 2
              Hopkins: 1
              Pacquiao: 7

              2005:
              Mayweather: 1
              Hopkins: 10
              Pacquiao: 5

              2007:
              Mayweather: 1
              Hopkins: 5
              Pacquiao: 3

              2008:
              Mayweather: 1
              Hopkins: 4
              Pacquiao: 2

              2009:
              Mayweather: n/a
              Hopkins: 4
              Pacquiao: 1

              2010*:
              Mayweather: 2
              Hopkins: 4
              Pacquiao: 1

              DECADE TOTAL: (lower = better)

              2000’s Decade:
              Mayweather: 24
              Hopkins: 54
              Pacquiao: 113

Please note that the ranking typically represents the Ring January issue date, so the ranking is for that previous year. 2001 is for 2000 calendar year, 2010 is for 2009 calendar year. Mayweather was ‘retired’ in 2008. There was no ranking for 2006. Not sure why.

Pacquiao didn't make the p4p list until 2004.

Mayweather spent the entire decade on the list, and since 2004, was no worse than 2nd.

Just an interesting look I found. That guy is an NYU Alum. He must be pretty smart.

                  Hey ignore boy!

Do you think P4P rankings make up the FOTD?

                  I'll wait!

Anyone who considers the "mythical" P4P ranking as a measure for being a FOTD is dumb!

Last time i checked Manny Pacquiao was the fighter of the decade and Floyd didn't fight a top fighter for the whole second half of the decade.
