I know exactly what you said man, I read your comment. You described Mayweather's elusivness in a negative way. The term that you used was "running", correct? Regardless, your explanation for Mayuweather's opponents low work-rate is insufficient. You brought up Mosley, b ut Mayweather sto od right in front of Mosley for basically the entire fight. The Bi ased HBO commentators even made note of this. Mosley didn't have a low work-rate because Mayweather ran, he had a low work-rate because of Mayweather's accurate counter-punching.

This is nothing but anti-Mayweather spin. Boxing is a business and politics play a huge role on what fights do and don't get made. Why is it always the most ignorasnt who talk the loudest?

Cotto had his chance, but didn't think that he was ready. Margarito is owned by Arum, and Arum tried to strongarm Mayweather. Mayweather wanted $8 million to fight Margarito, a guarantee of $10m to fight Cotto or Hatton, and $20m to fight Oscar. Arum would only gurantee $8m for Margarito and $7m for Cotto/Hatton. He didn't even want to pursue the Mayweather-De La Hoaya fight. Anyone faulting Mayweather for his decision to buy himself out of his contract with Arum to go o n and do his own thing is a selfish fan who doesn't appreciate the business side of the sport.

If those guys have A-level boxing skills, then what grade would you give Mayweather?

lmao...i was waiting for the jmm. he beat him...barely. many ppl dnt think he won either fight. thus my point stands. and mab was a brawler first then a boxer. he's not like floyd and jmm in that he thinks about countering, etc. not to mention he wasnt exactly prime when the two fought.

with that said, jmm has a level boxing skills ill say barerra could box if he wanted to and even then floyd's skills are a level above theirs. roach isnt ******. he's made it clear that he didnt think manny could beat floyd b4. now he feels certain for whatever reason so no he wants the fight.

            Boxing skills:

            Floyd : 95
            Marquez: 89
            Barrera: 83

Relatively speaking. Now, when you add in physical attributes such as speed and size....

Keep in mind that Manny was fighting smaller guys before. Agreed?

i mean diego corrales threw almost 900 punches against gairy st claire, how many did he throw against floyd?

hatton threw 755 punches against juan urango and 741 against collazo , how many did he throw against floyd? he threw 372 and 53 landed which is a connect percentage of 17%

marquez threw 732 punches against juan diaz in 9 rounds

mosley threw 774 against cotto and 507 against margarito in 9 rounds but he threw 452 against floyd and landed 92, which is a connect percentage of 20%

de la hoya threw 810 against forbes, 792 against sturm.

the point of this thread is that floyd can make a fighter think twice and reduce their work rate because he throws accurate counterpunches, this is why mosley got "tired" and "looked his age" ..mosley wouldnt throw because he was getting countered so he was being very careful with what he threw

reasons for reduction in work rate:

              - fights boxers with reputation to gas in the second half of fights & is mentally weak (zab judah).

              - fights old shot past prime boxers (shane among many others).

              - fights old boxers way out of their weight class (marquez among others).

              - fights boxers with near double digit loses sometimes double digit loses (baldomir, gatti, & augustus among others).

              - fights non threatening opposition to keep undefeated record & get a easy pay day (too many to mention).

in boxing, you need space to throw. but may will never be in this "space." shane couldnt engage because floyd was never in his reach. floyd comes with 1 punch then closes gap. it looked like he was a dragon breathing fire to most, but this was seriously pusssy ****. 1 punch, close in. then again and again.
So you are calling the man who was landing the punches a *****, but what is the guy who couldnt stop the so called ***** from landing at will?

what does tht gotta do with nything. its pretty much universally accepted tht when he fought mroales and jmm he was the bigger man. he even admitted he was having a hard time making weight. im not using that as an excuse for why he won, but its the truth. pac was bigger than those guys when he fought them.
