I think this is what got Floyd shook. He sees Pac walking through clean KO punches from Cotto and he's still letting his hands go in the later rounds. Pac ain't scared to engage, you catch him clean, he responds with a barrage of punches. You can't catch Pac with stingers, he'll just keep coming at you.

i mean diego corrales threw almost 900 punches against gairy st claire, how many did he throw against floyd?

hatton threw 755 punches against juan urango and 741 against collazo , how many did he throw against floyd? he threw 372 and 53 landed which is a connect percentage of 17%

marquez threw 732 punches against juan diaz in 9 rounds

mosley threw 774 against cotto and 507 against margarito in 9 rounds but he threw 452 against floyd and landed 92, which is a connect percentage of 20%

de la hoya threw 810 against forbes, 792 against sturm.

the point of this thread is that floyd can make a fighter think twice and reduce their work rate because he throws accurate counterpunches, this is why mosley got "tired" and "looked his age" ..mosley wouldnt throw because he was getting countered so he was being very careful with what he threw

Its due to Floyd's boxing style. To best explain it would be with another sport such as hockey or soccer(football). You can play a very offensive minded game and play a 3(forwards) up and 2(defense) back or if you are more defensive minded you can play a 2-1-2 style or 1-2-2 style game.

If your style is 3-2 then you tend to shoot and score more often but if you play against a team that plays a good 1-2-2 style, you will not be able to shoot nor score as often. Even if your style is 3-2.

Floyd is more of a 1-2-2 style or even a 1-4 style where defense comes first and just try to capitalize on your opponent's mistakes. So it's natural that his opponents will not throw nor hit as often. Especially when your opponents tend to be older or have not had much success in WW division or who were never considered high work rate boxers.

The one on bold is true, Floyd throws the most accurate counterpunches.

But with why those fighters stated above of their workrate output being reduced in fighting Floyd, my observation might catch ire.

I believe those fighters are not capable or lacked will of cutting the ring enough to cover Floyd on where they want him, hence their low output with Floyd. And knowing Floyd's ring generalship, he will use the whole ring to his full advantage, and of course, his accurate counterpunching also at play.

That being said on how i see it, I then conclude that Floyd has yet to face an opponent who can cut the ring very efficiently to chase him and lure him to his advantage and thow as he wish and limit Floyd's use of ring generalship, thus maintaining his average punch output even if faced against a fighter like Floyd.

At their prime? With Pac's speed, power, workrate and stamina? Come on son, I give Floyd mad credit for what he brings to the ring, but if you even dare compare Pac to Gatti or Hatton, I'll lose all respect for you.

It's hard to hit Mayweather clean, and fighters waste so much energy trying to simply get in position to hit him clean that they gas out. I'm impressed how he can reduce their workrate, but i'm more impressed with how much it takes out of his opponents just trying to get at Mayweather.
