  • Its amazing how Floyd reduces the workrates of fighters

...by his ring mobility/movement. he is so illusive and defensive..so accurate, he counters you and makes you think twice before you throw punches because you would get countered

i mean diego corrales threw almost 900 punches against gairy st claire, how many did he throw against floyd?

hatton threw 755 punches against juan urango and 741 against collazo , how many did he throw against floyd? he threw 372 and 53 landed which is a connect percentage of 17%

marquez threw 732 punches against juan diaz in 9 rounds

mosley threw 774 against cotto and 507 against margarito in 9 rounds but he threw 452 against floyd and landed 92, which is a connect percentage of 20%

de la hoya threw 810 against forbes, 792 against sturm.

the point of this thread is that floyd can make a fighter think twice and reduce their work rate because he throws accurate counterpunches, this is why mosley got "tired" and "looked his age" ..mosley wouldnt throw because he was getting countered so he was being very careful with what he threw

The thing is... Floyd does that even when he stands right in front of you.

Mayweather isn't a devastating puncher. But his punches must really sting because guys refuse to let their hands go. Even guys like Shane and Oscar who are bigger and have iron chins.

Those are interesting numbers. No one does Pacquiao get over 1000 like in the Clottey.

Which is exactly what Floyd is notorious for. But I can see the subtle indirect hint that Floyd would do the same thing to Manny, yeah? Only time will tell if the two will fight, but if you base it on previous opponents Mayweather has faced, then yes, it does look that fight.
But, one thing is how a fight looks on paper and how it actually plays out.

he does not like to engage. period. i still believe that he is the most skilled counter puncher in boxing history. you need to be aware of the modern day boxing expectations. read my thread chicken moves 101.

Doesn't that make Shane a chicken also for not engaging?

I may not be fully understanding.

Floyd tags you with fast, sharp, accurate counter shots that make you think twice about throwing your jab or other punch you depend on therefore his opponents hesitate and end up throwing half the shots they normally would. Floyd is an above average boxer he is great! I have a lot of respect for the guy.

I always find it funny when people talk about Manny throwing these 7-8 punch combos. He definitely has the ability to do so but he won't do it after getting tagged by Floyd. Floyd has the stinging power that makes you think twice about throwing.
