So he had a better jab and was faster. Can't really say he was a better boxer. Chavez was the better ring general, better bodypuncher, better stamina, as powerful, better chin and did it against better opposition. In terms of skills, Chavez is a couple steps better. In terms of resume it's not even close.
I HATE Julio Chavez

bull **** Steele made the right call you cant answer yes you lose the f**ken macth doesnt matter how much time there is leftGtfoh. The way Steele robbed my boy Taylor had me fuming, but JCC deserves mad respect. I hate people who say they refuse to respect a fighter that is a ****ing ATG ue to their attitude. Well **** that, I'm not a girl looking for a person with personality, all I care about is what they do in the ring.

I am not a JCC hater, and i'm not an Oscar stan or anything like that, just to make it clear Juan Manuel Marquez is my favorite fighter coming out of Mexico. With that said I believe as well that DLH was more skilled than JCC in their prime. There were few boxers who were better than JCC at body punching and inside work. But I would be blind to say prime JC was a more all-around fighter than DLH. De La Hoya was the better and more skilled boxer.
Maybe lot will disagree but I guess I should end this by saying "in my humble opinion".Comment

I don't understand why people still cry about that Tayler fight. There are no favors in boxing like you guys make it sound. Why should've Steele let Tayler continue when he couldn't answer "Yes" or "No" if he wants to continue. Yes, Chavez was losing the fight in a way I guess but looking at the damage that was done, it doesn't look like Chavez lost. Plus, that's the point of this sport - anything can happen. You lose the whole fight, one punch changes it all at the end. Just the way the sport is. No damn favors in a sport like boxing or any other sports for that matter. Chavez knocked Tayler out and that's it.

I can't think of something Oscar did better than Julio besides jab. Seriously. True, but that was his lifestyle I guess. He's not the only fighter/athlete that has done it. Whitaker did it as well as that other guy I think his last name's Tapia. It's a popular thing to do when you hit celebrity status I guess?
But with that said, I think that's very disrespectful to your sport/team/and young fans who look up to you and have to see what you're doing in the news.Comment

Better jab, faster handspeed, same iron chins in their primes, Oscar had slightly better footwork and blocked a hell of a lot of punches(without using his face), so I would say Oscar had the better defense as well.Comment

Chavez had the better chin, I think. Save for the Randall KD, I think only Tszyu managed to drop him and that was, what, his last fight? I don't know if Oscar had better defense...at all. Ike tagged him up pretty good, so did Mosley, so did Oba Carr...heck, Derrell Coley had him hurt! Matter of fact, save for the Tito fight, I can't think of a fight where Oscar exhibited good defense. Chavez was very adept at slipping and rolling, particularly on the inside. Better jab? Definitely. Maybe footwork although that's debatable.Comment

But yet you give Pac credit for doing the same with Morales, Cotto, Barrera, and many more??Give Oscar credit for what? Beating a shell of JCC? I don't give Oscar credit for that ****. **** Oscar and then he gave an old man who clearly beat a rematch. But, wouldn't give Quartey and Whitaker a rematch. And, Oscar deserves credit? **** that....
