A reining belt holder shouldn't have the luxury of a tune up. He should defend his title whoever is the next best guy in line. i hope you see that point. but with maidana injured, there's always alexander and bradley.

i think some people are just unhappy and disgruntled - period.
no matchups out there would actually satisfy people as they just have issues and it's not about boxing.
the same people that winge about lucien bute not being part of the super six and khan potentially fighting katsidis are all of the same miserable variety. i guess if khan fought mayweather, they'd say 'well floyd used to be a superfeatherweight'.....
...and before people pounce on me about my bute comment, i agree it would be awesome to have him in the super six, but why not concentrate on the quality already featured in it?
getting back on track, khan - katsidis would be a great attraction, a possibly great dight and before the end of july perhaps!

No, it is perfectly reasonable to have tune ups. Especially in this short space of time.

You could also call it a "keep busy" fight.

Khan decides himself when to defend his title, no one else.

Alexander/bradley have already decided their own fights.

Bear in mind that khan will fight again in nowember/december and this time he will have the full six weeks to train.

On paper Katsidis will be Khan's toughest fight to date. He is short but will be very dangerous and strong at LWW. The fight right now will generate a lot of interest and money.

I'm disgusted you'd think Kats would be a "stay-busy" fight for Amir Khan. Maybe for a Mayweather or a Pacquiao, sure. But Amir Khan? That's ****ing treason from a guy with Katsidis as his avatar. Get your ****ing head fixed.

Good question. Katsidis is from Toowoomba. I've visited Toowoomba. Stayed there a couple of weeks. It's certainly a very tough town. I wouldn't say it's a low socio-economic area, but it's a losers town. I remember a lot of scary looking dudes ripped to the bone, shaved heads and tatts (I was a long-hair rocker at the time). Plenty of friendly, cool people too.

Katsidis did 8 months in maximum security prison for assault. From what I hear a bouncer attacked Katsidis during a street brawl and Kats ****ed him up badly. The bouncer was just out of prison himself. The conviction almost destroyed his career. The premier of Queensland (Peter Beattie) wrote a character reference for Katsidis to help him gain entry to America. The prison wardens concurred he was a 'calming influence' on other prisoners... make of that what you will.

Jeez Dan, Kats is the man in your avatar and all this hand-wringing because he might be in a tought fight. You picked Mitchell against him and now you're picking Khan against him. How was it for Escobedo and the others? Keep the faith man, keep the faith. Mike is one of those guys every fighter fancies himself against, but then they get in there and it's a different story. He'll be fine against Khan. It will be a great, blockbuster fight.

Katsidis is no fool and a pressure fighter. He knows if he stays on the outside he will get outboxed and cut up. His only chance will be be to close in and pressure Khan. That is the way he fights and the way Khan does not like it. Depending on who fights who's fight will determine the outcome. I can see this fight going either way. Katsidis presents big problems for Khan. Khan's infighting skills are pathetic for a top level boxer and Katsidis has the ability to expose this and capitalise one it.

should khan deserve credit for fighting a lightweight?

In most cases Khan has fought smaller men that suit him down to the ground and there is no question his record is padded with cherry picked smaller walkover type fighters. Katsidis is a lightweight but a big lightweight that can easily fight at LWW. It was very noticeable in the Mitchell fight how much bigger Katsidis was. In this case I feel that despite Katsidis being a lightweight and shorter he brings more than enough to the table to make this a credible fight. In fact IMO this will be the most dangerous fight Khan has taken. That is not saying a lot but this is a far more dangerous fight than Malignaggi
