Exactly. The difference and hand speed and power would be completely devastating. I mean hell, Anderson Silva trashes MMA fighters and his offense is composed almost entirely of strikes. His opponents striking ability is usually so horrid that they're incapable of even touching the man.

Take Gamboa and throw him in the ring against any MMA fighter of a comparable weight class and he's trash them, no contest.

Take Chad Dawson right now and throw him in the ring with any MMA fighter of a similar weight class, and he trashes them. Easily.

    It's really no contest.

In a boxing match? Of course every one would pick the boxer. Anything else Captain Obvious?

Children. They always tend to fall victim to throwing around generalizations and insults.

I'm talking about the Octagon or whatever it's called in MMA. You place any of the elite boxers of the past 50 years against the elite MMA fighters of the last 50 years, and I'm taking the boxer every time. Or even todays elite boxers against the elite MMA fighters of today. In both the boxing ring and the octagon, I'm taking the boxer.

Floyd Mayweather, Manny Pacquiao, Chad Dawson, Yuriorkis Gamboa, Andre Ward, Wladimir Klitschko and Vitali Klitschko, Sergio Martinez, and Devon Alexander, would completely dominate any current MMA fighter of the same weight class. Whether it be in the Octagon or the boxing ring.

Thats a faulty argument. Good allegory would be two sharpshooters. One of them knows how to use most guns and is quite proficient with them, another is proficient with just one gun but he is the most accurate and deadliest shooter in the world. Which one of them will win the shootout?

The specialist, because the marksman doesn't know which gun he's bringing.

It would have mattered if they were throwing tomahawk missiles from one end of the world to another. In a simple shootout the one who is faster and more accurate wins. The other guy can spray and pray, but he usually leaves prayers to whoever will come to his funeral the next day.

Thats like saying Michael Jordan would be a great Baseball player because he was so great at basketball. Obviously that didn't work out so there goes your entire diluted theory.

Just because someone is elite at one sport doesn't mean they are good at another. Seriously outside of Dion Sanders and Bo Jackson please name all the Multi sport athletes out there that had great success in the pro ranks.
