Floyd won pretty handily but that performance was quite unimpressive. I figured maybe he didn't want to ruin his chance at a rematch. IDK, I came away from that fight thinking that Floyd was slowing down.

After the fight he said he really didnt try. Something of that nature.

Quite honestly, it didn't look like either of them did.

I doubt that very seriously. It's just style match ups. That version of Oscar wasn't very active and Floyd is not really a volume puncher.

Also, Floyd hit Oscar with some big shots but remember, Oscar has a great chin and has fought much bigger guys.

Floyd knew how to beat him, stuck to the game plan and there was nothing Oscar could do about it. Floyd is a very careful fighter and doesn't take many chances, especially when he's winning out right.

It looked like Oscar got tired and it looked like Floyd was ready to cash his check. Lack luster fight but I always enjoy Oscar getting owned.

i agree and even though floyd won 9 rounds on my scorecard, i honestly dont think he used his A game against oscar, do you think he did? money talks...if he used his A game and won every single round there wouldnt be any talk of a rematch which would potentially earn floyd some more $$$ against the biggest cash cow of boxing oscar de la hoya. floyd wasnt the draw he is now when he fought oscar in 2007

Yeah, Floyd never really took that next step after landing some big shots though. And he got tagged pretty seriously towards the end of round 11. Took the punch well but was startled at how cleanly - and how hard - he was hit.

He couldve ****ed Oscar over if he wanted to.

I don't think anyone destroys Floyd, save maybe Tommy Hearns.

True. Idk, I kinda assumed Oscar didn't try everything either. And that maybe he was saving something for the rematch as well.

I know people like to think stuff like that is akin to a conspiracy theory but it really isn't. Hopkins and Oscar played sparring session because they had already agreed to join forces--which they did two weeks later. And I specifically remember stating that Floyd must've agreed to relinquish certain rights on future bouts by agreeing to fight Oscar. What do you know? He's been GBP ever since.
