I wasnt aware there were any 40 year old big names at 168.

Oh, I kid Chad. Hard to maintain a fan base when your fans forget who you are due to inactivity.

Should be interesting. Would have liked to see him move up to cruiser and take on Cunningham to be honest.

He should have done this a long time ago. He'd beat every fighter in the tourny, most with ease.

he should just wait on them to move up. they're mostly young guys, he's still young, their days at 168 are numbered. it'd be a lot easier than draining himself to 168. if he fought more often people might forget how alone he is at light heavy.

Yeah, I agree. I also think it doesn't make sense for him to move up to cruiser and fight someone who can barely draw as much as he can himself. Just not worth the risk, or the gain for that matter. Ward and/or Dirrell will move up soon enough.

              Nope

Clothes + shoes = must be around 6 or 7 pounds. I recall people were saying Clottey was weighing 170 lbs on fight night. Yeah, right, but with his clothes and shoes on... So Dawson is probably around 183-184 lbs on fight night. That's not a lot after rehydrating, which tells he could make 168.

AND, don't forget Dawson was a supermiddleweight not that long ago, he moved up to 175 in 2006, started his career in 2002, he was even fighting at 160 in 2005, so there is not a single doubt in my mind, Dawson can comfortably make 168.

You'll see, he will have to do it, can't fight in an empty division.

Bute as well. In fact, I'd like to see Bute do that now, like after Pavlik (if that comes off). No sense in waiting for the Super Six guys and everyone else is pointless. Dawson-Bute would be great. And let's not forget Cloud/Johnson. Dawson-Cloud and Bute-Johnson on one card? I could see it happening if Cloud gets by Johnson and Dawson defeats Pascal.

Dawson is in the same position that Hamed was in a few years ago. Like Hamed, he needs to become the man of his division and by then he will have all these great fighters moving up to take his title. So my advice to him would be to beat Pascal, unify a few titles and then guys like Ward, Dirrell, Bute, Froch, Pavlik and others will be knocking at his door for big fights. This is just my take on this, and how I would do it if I were him. No point in going to 168 when all the big name are tied up. Just become the man at 175 and have people come to you.

wouldn't mind seeing him move up and fighting Steve Cunningham but I think he would make that 168 division even more interesting but I don't think those guys in that 168 division would be all that excited about him joining that division

Dawson might have trouble with Ward and Dirrell if he's weight drained, but he would dominate everyone else at 168.
