I personally don't feel Marquez is holding the title hostage. He won it from Diaz, who was #1 by virtue of his victory over Katisdis. Then, he went up and got beaten up by Floyd Mayweather. Now, he's coming back and basically taking a tune-up fight after a bad loss.

9 months later. How very professional, and worthy of an undisputed LW champion(!) Even Pavlik, of whom many said was holding 3 titles hostage, has been busier since the Hopkins fight.

all I'm saying is that wouldn't Katsidis futher the demand of seeing him in with JMM by beating a Khan, Funeka, Guerrero, or Soto? I think that would go a lot further to validate his claim than sitting around complaining that JMM is ducking him, and beating the caliber of opponents he's been beating.

He could do that, and I wouldn't mind a Soto fight because it would be an all-action ****fest. Funeka, however, lost his last fight and has had 3 failed title chances in a row (albeit 2 of them being robberies). Guerrero was going to fight Kats in March, but pulled out. Khan should be busy fighting the LWWs in a loaded division, including his own mandatory. The onus shouldn't be on Kats to risk his #1 contender shot by fighting others. He's done what's needed of him.

So with all that in mind, the fact remains - the WBO and The Ring have given Kats the 1# contender position based on his past 4 victorious fights, and it's his right to exercise that opportunity. If Marquez doesn't want to give it to him, then he is within his rights to make the jump to 140 for bigger fights. If not, then he is indeed needlessly holding up the division if he's "done with it".

Patty, JMM not only took a beating. But he took a beating from a naturally bigger man who was hitting him basically at will for 12 rounds. I don't think he was at all outta line for taking a little time off.

As for Katsidis not risking his #1 ranking, isn't that doing exactly what you're accusing JMM of doing with his belt? According to you, JMM wouldn't be preventing Katsidis from fighting the best in the division. Katsidis fear of losing would be preventing him from fighting the best in the division. My personal opinion, and that's all it is is an opinion, is that a contender has to do more to prove himself than the champion. JMM came in and KO'd the two top guys when he hit the division. He's proven himself. And a champion reserves the right to pick and choose, as long as he's taking bigger fights than the one against his top contender.

Exactly what has Katsidis done to deserve a shot at the winner of Marquez-Diaz II? JMM KO'd both of the fighters who beat Katsidis. And Diaz was one of those KO victins who holds a clear-cut victory over this overhype cat. Katsidis needs to do more before demanding a title shot. Beat Ali Funeka. Or maybe beat one of the cats coming up from 130. But going over to England and KOing what amounted to a prospect doesn't mean he deserves to be demanding a title shot.

Yeah, well its hard to argue against that.

I just think that given JMM's age, his jumping around in weight and his size, that is a more winnable fight for Mick. I don't want to see him in there with Khan.
