Pat, Katsidis doesn't have one win over a solid lightweight contender. His best win is over mitchell, who was a fringe contender at best. I'm not saying that I wouldn't watch Marquez-Katsidis. But, if Marquez could get a bigger fight, Katsidis isn't in a position to cry duck. Marquez could get a third fight with Pac. There's several guys at 140 who are better than Katsidis. Hell, Vazquez is fighting his little brother again this weekend. Maybe he could lure Vazquez up if he wins to avenge his brother's loses. And then you have Chris John. Personally, I'd rather see John-Marquez II than Katsidis. With the 2008Katsidis had, he nees to make a statement. He hasn't done that. Maybe beating Amir Khan would do it. Khan-Katsidis has been floating around. If he beats Khan, that would create public demand for a fight with Marquez.

I agree. He should stay at LW as long as he can make weight and try to clean up.

Or maybe beat one of the cats coming up from 130. But going over to England and KOing what amounted to a prospect doesn't mean he deserves to be demanding a title shot.
Ummm..... He's the fucking interim champion, moron.

Bull****. Mitchell was hyped up big time, and had a solid win over the man who pounded Khan. It's just typical of everyone to discredit a good win if it doesn't fit their agenda. Reminds me of Kessler and Lacy before and after Calzaghe beat them.

At 135, he can't get a bigger fight after Diaz. That's the issue here. If there's bigger fights to be had, then that'll be in another division.

Not at 135. Pacquiao ain't coming down any lower than 140.

Fine, so he should fight them instead - but drop the LW title first, because he obviously doesn't need it. Maybe it's worthless to him, but for an up-and-comer it can be very important to their career progression.

Yes, he has. In case you haven't noticed, the Mitchell win has been talked about all over the world. If stopping an undefeated contender in style - against betting odds, in his own backyard - isn't making a statement, then jeeeeez...

Just because Mitchell was hyped doesn't mean he was any good. He was totally unproven at the contender level. I think oging into that fight he was ranked the #9 contender by The Ring. And that was based solely on beating Prescott. And after getting a one punch KO win over Khan, what has Prescott done? He lost to a C Class fighter in Miguel Vazquez prior ro losign to Mitchell. Like I say, Mitchell was a prospect/fringe contender. Beating him was a solid win, but nothing that makes it a must that a proven elite like JMM fight him.

There's 4 pages of discussion which address all those things and that's all you can come up with? Pathetic.

If Kats murked the winner of Marquez/Diaz, would you make excuses then? I bet you would say something like winner of Marquez/Diaz was totally shot and thats why Kats took them out early. People like you make excuses after someone wins.

I picked Mitchell to beat Katz but after they faced off in the ring. I knew Katz was gonna KO him. If Katz runs in on Marquez like that, he's getting put to sleep. Marquez is a different animal.
