Comments Thread For: Team Pacquiao: Ready For Mayweather Bout in November

Freddie Roach and em are like a broken record. I could have sworn
that Floyd Mayweather JR said that if Manny Pacquiao wouldn't agree
to the random blood tests and 14 day cut off that there would no fight.
Now we have to read another article of Roach and em talking about
they want to fight Floyd but under the rules of the commission?
Roach and em don't want it. I wish they would just stop talking
about it in the media and keep it on the hush like Mayweather.

Unless Pac's team loosen up this fight will never happen, stop waiting people, because Roach and his team are stubborn, but so is Mayweather. Im going for Mayweather's demands on this one. Pacs team cant always get what they want!!

That's what happens when you're the top promotional company in boxing- you sign the best fighters.
First off..
I had respect for Margarito (pre-loaded gloves), still have respect for Cotto, but losing respect for Pac (if he wont take the test and fight Floyd).
But there is nothing in any of these fighters that a very skilled technician would be scared of.
After all of Bob Arums media propaganda against Floyd, its understandable that some believe Floyd is scared (of top rank fighters).
But you have to read into the media spins, the positioning, and the politics that come with the business side of boxing.
Bob Arum is the best at propaganda... using the media to form opinions of the fans.
Back when Floyd was trying to make business moves to get away from Arum/Top Rank (to fight Oscar), Arum retaliated by blasting Floyd in the media as being scared. This was also his best way to promote Margarito at the time, who also was complaining to Bob that he wasn't being promoted enough.
So.... How do a bitter promoter turn a negative situation (losing your best fighter) into a positive?
Easy... You make an offer that you know your former (business minded) fighter wont take, then tell the world he is scared.... while using the rejection/situation to promote your unknown fighter by claiming he is the most feared man in boxing.
---- He did this with Margarito (8mil offer but no 20mil Oscar fight)-- knowing Floyd was going after Oscar (for the Biggest ppv fight in history) instead of fighting a lesser known (at that time) Margarito who last did 35k ppvs with Gomez. Although this was smart business by Floyd....
Arums spin/message to the media/world was... Floyd is scared of my fighter Margarito.
---- He continued with Cotto (even without making an offer to Floyd).
Arums spin/message to the media/world... Floyd is scared of my fighter Cotto.
---- Now he still doing it with Pac.
Arums spin/message to the media/world... Floyd is scared of my fighter Pacman.
---- If Arum was to sign a good welterweight tomorrow to his promotional company,
Arums spin/message to the media/world would be..... Floyd is scared of my new fighter.
Bob just plays the game of propaganda... just like many other promoters.
You can continue to believe what you read in the propaganda,
But I choose to read between the lines.

Sorry, but please go back and look at my source. From a clinical standpoint- detecting any substances abuse whether it be habitual drugs or ped's can be detected with the RIGHT urine test and random blood testing within a 14+ days window especially when paraphernalia is used in cycles and in this case for any steroid or HGH usage to be effective, it would have to be done in cycles. I believe Manny did agree to have testing done within this time frame and immediately after the fight if I'm not mistaken.
What I do not agree to is Manny's initial reasoning and hindrance. I do not agree with the people who are advising him, Top Rank's way of handling negotiations and all of these reports that have surfaced within the past couple of days about negotiations "starting" with Pac and Floyd when we all know it's not true. I definitely want to see these two in the ring but Manny needs to step up and if Floyd did agree to 14 days in the initial negotiations it would be nonsensical to go back on it now.
Didn't think I was done did you? First of all Manny agreed to 3 test 24 days prior to the fight not 14 days. Here's what the real experts say:
Dr. Margaret Goodman was the Chief Ringside Physician for the State of Nevada until 2005, and the Medical Advisory Board Chairperson for the NSAC until 2007. Along with Dr. Flip Homansky, a former commissioner with the NSAC, she was influential in instituting many of the testing regulations currently in use by the Nevada State Athletic Commission.
*Dr. Goodman points out that there are many different things to test for, such as human growth hormones, performance-enhancing drugs, steroids, and erythropoietin (which is used in blood doping, and can only be detected by blood tests).
*Dr. Goodman states, “Although urine can be used to detect steroids and other substances, many things can disappear from the urine quickly.”
*Asked if the NSAC ever considered blood testing during her tenure, Goodman said, “We never did blood for one main reason; it was extremely hard from a logistical standpoint. We never had phlebotomists, and didn’t want to send the fighter to a hospital for labs alone after a fight.”
*Dr. Goodman believes that unannounced testing of fighters between fights is critical in keeping down the use of illegal substances.
*Currently, the NSAC does do random checks, and sometimes fighters are given advance notice of up to 48 hours, which is a practice Goodman feels should change.
*“Many substances,” Goodman points out, “including low doses of testosterone, could be out of their system in that time.”
*But Goodman does share Kizer’s belief that one must be as diligent as possible.
*“Listen,” Goodman said, “one needs to recognize that no current testing program is foolproof, but USADA’s is a great step.”
*Goodman continued, “And this is a process that needs to be revamped constantly, especially due to the ever-changing world of performance-enhancing drugs.”
*So is it time for boxing to bite the bullet and institute USADA’s testing program.Last edited by Sugar Q; 05-14-2010, 04:59 PM.
