    actually jrose......

Floyd won his first title, WBC belt, in Oct 1998. Two months later Pac not only won the WBC title in his division, but also the lineal title.

Since 1998, Pac has been one upping Floyd....true story

Floyd was always on top, he was ranked top 10 p4p, 1yr after he got in the pro circuit. Being on top 9/10 years is more than being on top 6/10 years. That is why I think Floyd deserved it more.

Doesn't mean Pacquiao isn't great. But if they gave Pacquiao the fighter of the decade because Floyd retired, then I can see that. If they considered Floyd, regardless of the retirement. Then I don't see how they can honestly give it to Pacquiao over Floyd or even Hopkins for that matter.
If you're talking about fighter of the decade then why are you bringing up 98 and 99?

Decade is from 2000-2009 so from that time period break it down how Floyd or Hopkins for that matter deserves P4P over Pac?

Alright I have to jump in.

        In 1998 Floyd was a Top 10 P4Pounder bro.

Anyone can rip apart people's resumes...I don't like doing it...

          Mayweather:
Corrales was weight drained, he lost to Castillo, DLH was old, Hatton wasn't at 140, Mosley was old, Gatti was on the downside, Judah just lost to Baldomir

          De La Hoya:
Whitaker old, Chavez washed up, Mayorga sucks, Vargas was ruined by Tito, Camacho old

you better be lucky that my step-dad threw all my KO/Ring magazines away because I have an article that would shut this reply down in a hurry.

In an article, KO Magazine said the following in discussing Singurat's Ko victory over Manny-"What makes this KO so special is that Medgeon didn't just KO anyone, but he KO'd one of the elite fighters 122 and below (in reference to Manny). Manny Pacquiao is one of the best fighters as seen by his victories over Sakakul (lineal champ) and Chokchai Chockvivat."

I swear I will re-buy that article, scan and upload it because I remember clearly that Manny was considered an elite fighter by KO Magazine, which is how I first found out about him. I will do so because I 'm so sick of people thinking that he just came outta nowhere after the barrera fight, when there is a ton of proof (magazine articles) showing how highly regarded he was by boxing experts.

I wonder why that was, especially considering that in each and every fight he never had a problem showing his fight night weight. Your a Floyd fan and you already know that Floyd is clearly 5-10lbs bigger than he was b4 he retired.

specualtion again....what i'm getting at. maybe he refused to be weighed b/c he wanted to give you something to talk about. but since he refused, it's "fair game" right? just like manny refusing drug testing, leaves us free to assume other things.....

like i posted before, if you have FACTS on what floyd has been coming into fights weighing, feel free to post them.

Do you really want to play this game?

Rafael Marquez got Knocked out in his first fight and went on to have a helluva career.

Barrera got (should have gotten) KO by Junior Jones, bounced back and went on one of the greatest runs in the FW division beating Morales, Tapia, Hamed, Kelly, Ayala, Sanchez and other great fighters.

Hell Manny has gotten Knocked out twice and went on the become FOTD...hence this thread...lol

clearly it's a helluva lot easier to come back, after being KO'ed early in your career, than it is, after you're 45 fights in, and have been set in your ways....hell bernard hopkins lost his first fight, and look at his career. if he gets KTFO now, what are the chances he comes back?

you know what i was getting at.

Oscar is the Cashking. No one can make Oscar do anything he doesn't want to do. You saw first hand, as a Floyd fan, how he made Floyd bend to each and every request (glove size, weight etc). Also the rehydration stuff is b.s. and no one has provided any proof of that ever being the case.

oscar was also desperate for an opponent. he tried to jerk floyd around in negotiations, and floyd retired on him, so oscar was left w/o a dance partner. he didn't seem to keen on fighting cotto or margarito, so that left manny.

problem was, manny was 3 divisions south, and in order to sell that sham to the public, oscar had to neutralize his size advantage to make the fight seem more competitive. problem was, oscar unserestimated manny, and even seeing he was killing himself to make 147, he was too cheap to pay the extra money to come in at a weight more comfortable. i completely agree, it's oscar's fault,

but does that take away from the fact he was still "severly weight-drained?" regardless of whether he agreed to it or not.....

whatever. It's still only one pound under his fight against Clottey. Cotto said before, after and till this day that he felt comfortable at that weight. If he is cool with it, why aren't you?

Since when do we judge fights by how they look post fight. Scores are added up way b4 that and you act like they wait to look at their faces b4 they announce a winner. Pac crushed Clottey end of story.

cotto hadn't fought below 147 in 3 years. he may have came in at 146 against clottey, but it's obvious, training to get to 147 or below is a lot different than training for 145 below....especially if you've been at 147 for three years. if the couple of pounds weren't such a big deal, why was roach and manny so adamant about a catchweight? if 145-147 isn't a difference why not just do the fight at 147?

but like you said, cotto never complained, so i'll leave it alone.

of course fights aren't judged on who looks the best afterwards, but everybody watching knows clottey didn't come to try to win. manny "outpunched" him, but to say he looked spectacular is a bit misleading, considering the limited work that clottey did put in, seemed to do more damage that the 12-round dissertation manny gave us on hitting gloves and elbows.......

No disrespect, but if you didn't care, then why do you keep responding to this thread?

i don't care about a FOTD award, but i do care about boosting a fighter's wins, discrediting another fighter's wins, and ignoring, or dancing around the obvious.

I am still trying to figure out who Manny Pacquiao beat in or even around their primes? People say Manny is small but he has outweighed everyone he has fought.....Barrera, Marquez, and Morales were all smaller than Pacquiao. Oscar was outweighed, Hatton & Cotto was as well.
lmao that was awesome but implying that floyd ruined anyone is even funnier
