That was a cool fight. Montiel really turned it up in the fourth, slow start but he got the left hook in at the end of the day.

His hand getting caught on the ropes definitely didn't help him.

i dunno what the hell you were watching. hozumi's chin was completely exposed and montiel was teeing off. if hozumi wouldve moved, MAYBE he wouldve been given the benefit of the doubt...but he didnt.
i wouldnt be surprised if montiel broke hasegawa's jaw. if it wasnt stopped then, it couldve been much worse.

anyway, i think the japanese broadcasters were pretty embarrassed. they only showed like one replay of the KO.

I'm really not criticizing the stoppage that much, I'm just saying Hasegawa deserved the benefit of the doubt IMO with the round being almost over and it being a unification fight. Hasegawa was hurt, no doubt about that and he did get hit with some follow up punches but the fight having the significance that it had and with the round being almost over, I think Hasegawa should've gotten the chance to recover in the minute between rounds. His eyes were clear when Cole stepped in from what I saw and he started complaining a little to Cole as well so his faculties were intact.

I thought the guy was saved by the bell, a bit early stoppage since the round was already over. At least the ref should have given the jap another round for being the champion lol.

did you have a problem with the corrales/castillo I stoppage?

hasegawa was caught on the rope, taking flush shots and was unable to defend himself.
i want hozumi to win, but that was a proper stoppage.
fight magnitude be damned...the ref did what he was supposed to do.

I take back what I said about Hasegawa rolling under the shots, he wasn't. And yes, I have less trouble with the stoppage after rewatching it, I didn't have a big problem with it to begin with but I still think Hasegawa deserved the minute's rest considering how clear his eyes looked when Cole stepped.

Castillo's eyes were in orbit in the Corrales fight.
