Yeah, Abdullaev didn't want to continue. But his right eye was completely shut, disabling his sight of Cotto's primary weapon--his left hand. If he had continued, he could've been seriously hurt. He had had enough.
I praise guys like Gatti for fighting through some serious pains and hinderences, but it's unfair to compare others to his superhuman ability to endure pain. That's like calling the jeopardy guy (Ken Jennings or something) an idot because he doesn't possess the genius of Einstein or Hawkings. Yeah compared to those revolutionary minds, he looks like nothing special; but it doesn't mean he is lacking smarts.
I think the same applies here. To call Abdullaev cowardly and heartless for not continuing with one eye is wrong. A fighter knows his own limits. Some have greater limits than others, and I don't, and shouldn't, expect a fighter to jeopardize his well being for my entertainment. That's just my two cents.
