He quit when he bit Evander, he tried to quit when Botha was beating him(see attempt to break Botha's arm many times), He quit mentaly when Lewis whipped his ass, He quit against Williams, and he certainly quit when that big goofy dork whipped his sorry ass. Tyson is the most heartless of the bunch by far. The others shouldn't be judged by one quit. Have you ever put your sorry Cali ass in the ring before? I suspect you would be a curl up in a ball type of dude anyway. Probably a silk shirt wearing half a cali ***. WTF do you know about anything???
Not that we're not cool or anything LOL

Golota's a quitter. I loathe him like food poisioning. This guy should be banned from putting on the leather
Zoo shouldn't of quit. Your job is fight 12 rounds. That means as fighter you have to offer it you can continue fighting. This will lower his legacy a lot. I think a lot less of him now.
Abdu had his eye closed and was getting popped left and right. A ref would've stopped it in the next round. That eye was getting really bad and was getting worse. That corner was 2nd rate since they couldn't stop the swelling for a handful of rounds... I think the corner ineptitude hurt his morale and his chances.. I wouldn't be surprised if the corner stopped him from getting up. That eye was just sick BTW. That was a completly closed eyes, not the type were you getcan kinda get a peep oput of. All that amateur boxing skill, he should've learn to grab and hold like macho camacho or Ruiz. Either way his career is over but he decided it by quitting and not the oher way around.
Tyson is quitter because of his act. He can't fight and thats been since 1990. His in it for the money and hopes to win trying to intimidate and get an early KO otherwise he fouls and quits. I stop watching his fixed fights or sideshows since the McNeelly incident because i think it was on purpose.
Popo is no quitter. He got up from crazy knockdowns and got up. I don't think he could've continued and he would've been out in a minute anyways. He could've stayed down after the first one like a lot of boxers do if thats what you prefer.
Vlad klitskho with the shoulder injury. He has a PHD in physiology and I think he made a decision to save his career.
I don't know about you but I had shoulder injuries from boxing. I don't know what he had but it feels like a hot poker was stuck in the whole arm, not the should, the arm is on fire. You can't move the arm up. Move it up and it literally feels like it's gonna fall of your body. The most sensitive part on your body after the face is the hands, feet, and arm. The face goes numb but the arm doesn't.Last edited by ricecrispi; 06-13-2005, 12:41 AM.

Gatti had 2 swollen eyes vs. Wilson Rodriguez, golly what kind of moron would fight thru that? Oh yeah, a WARRIOR would, because that's his job
He should fight in k-1 for 20 million, pay off his debts, and then retire from fighting for good. He will get beat in K-1 but 20 million dollars is worth a kick to the head.

After reading all of this thread, I got a good laugh out of it. I am original of fan of MMA and my sport not only lets fighters quit, but its a common way of finishing a fight (the tapout). Some people here would like to see broken bones, or concussions or someone losing an eye rather than see a fighter quit.
Come on guys, get a grip on reality.
p.s Joe Frazier quit on his stool. Ali might of done the same if Joe hadn't. Remember that.

Once a quitter..always a quitter..legitimate reason for quitting..if you cant defend or mount an offense because of..injury..or severe swelling...and..a cut that could be dangerous

Boxing is different from MMA. Hard to compare the two. I done both and I would never quit in the ring but I would tap out all the time.

I think the point that's being made though is that people never used to quit... It should be up to the corner to throw in the towel if they think there fighter is getting hurt..
I agree that it's not a nice trend in boxing lately..
I don't want anyone to get hurt and your right that they have families etc. but they should fight until they get stopped or until the corner/ref stops it...
In Tyson's case I think he did the right thing, he knew he wasn't going to win at that point and didn't want to get pumbled by Mcbride
You gotta play till the end.. That's the rules.. Anyone who does otherwise ain't got heart.. This applies to Zoo as well, if he was that badly hurt then let the corner stop it... Thats there job...
